Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Sobriety has a way of bringing your anger to the surface. I am angry, deep down, and when it bubbles forth I need to deal with it in a saner way than suppressing it, locking it up in a box, and letting it rot there until another drunken impulse releases it's putrid flesh to the room.
Too early for this drama? Likely.
The complexities & deep delving of my anger issues aside, i am finding myself to carry profound bitterness of not having done something great, something memorable. I see the window air conditioner removed by my brother from my father's room had been left not quite in the garage so it can get rained & snowed on, the proverbial pissings of nature, and likely ruined for next season. Who needs to pay for the aftermath?
Fucking me.
I pay.
Why do I get the burden of cleaning the wonton disregard for what it costs to buy a replacement, what "it sux" to deal with shopping and crowds, because he can't be bothered to find a proper spot? Here I will drop.
You know what this person is?? Any guesses?
He's a saboteur. He has been designed to hinder more than help. He is there to create crises, like a jammed toilet I recently had to pay for, and then do nothing to improve the situation. He is family.
Thing is, my brother has given himself over to being an alcoholic. He is spiraling and we are left with the aftermath. An alcoholic deep in their disease becomes useless as a person. Speaking from experience, I am useless beyond stowing chaos whilst imbibing. Total shit show is what i am saying.
I ask myself why I prostrate myself before this helpless cause? I burn my precious, limited life energy on a cause that I am having a hard time lending support. I've donated enough of my time to being a saviour figure.
I am a meglomaniac to think I can save this lost soul from destroying himself. I can't make him care. I can only see the sabotage that has already been constructed around my fight to stay sober.
Morose enterprise indeed.

there has been considerable popular press on the social impact of misogyny (hatred of women). misandry (hatred of men) seems socially blessed. poor girl. how right you are to hate the evils of men. never mind that harboring hatred burns holes in your soul. those evil creatures are worthy of all the hate we can muster.i have 5 brothers, 5 sisters and 3 sons and 2 daughters. i hold that misandry is...

It’s been a bumpy ride that has been liberating.
As you can see anger is frustration about not having control over something or someone.
I found that my first months sober I felt like a lost child overwhelmed by all the things I had to deal with that had been neglected. And the frustration, when I was honest with myself, was really towards myself. Sure, I could project it to any number of things but ultimately I had to own my own mess and start taking steps to rebuild. So I started with literal steps. A walk every day to just take time out to take care of myself and allow myself time everyday to relax my mind. Another day sober and another good walk slowly made me feel like a real person. Like I had a chance at having a healthy life.
Gradually I have gained patience and acceptance of mine and others shit shows.
Love that btw:)
You know what’s important? Leaving to love yourself. That’s basically it. Every good thing comes out of that ability. You could call it a skill cause it takes so much practice.
Be gentle and kind with yourself and accept that you are where you are and who you are right now.
Trust me on this, the first months are raw and real. Go with it w/o drinking and the dust WILL settle. I turned 50 last year and I feel mature for the first time in my life. Age has nothing to do with it. I rode out the initial stages of acceptance and honesty with myself. Now I’m in it for the rest of my life and I’m excited about that.
Congratulations on a month plus!!! Only you can sabotage your sobriety today. Not your brother or a narcissistic leader or a skinned knee. Those are just symptoms
No, it's not too early. It's actually pretty likely that you're quite late to the game of feeling emotions in general. But it is very much so, better late than never.
A funny thing happens when we start processing our anger and pain. We leave room to start to like, sometimes even love ourselves. And it doesn't have to be that far down the road, when we choose to look inward.
You can't fix your brother. But he also can't make you drink. Your power is yours, and you have already shown yourself how strong you are.
One of the best tools I have for my own recovery, is a book called "The Language of Letting Go" by Melody Beattie. It is a daily reader for the codependency program, but very much applies to everyone. A few minutes a day, that I dedicate as part of my "self care" program goes to reading those entries.
I have learned that the alcoholic WANTs you to be miserable with them ..
Misery loves company
