Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I keep telling myself and those around me I'm going to quit drinking. And here I am.. Hungover and full of regret as usual. I know I need to use those bad feelings to stop me from letting it happen. But I just keep giving in. I'm unsure about AA. I'm sure it's worth a try but I just feel uncomfortable with it. I have gotten a little better than I used to be. I've resisted more than I have in the past, but I eventually give in.

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

The big question for you is, are you willing to do whatever it takes in order to get sober? If not, there are many more hangovers ahead, along with other assorted misery that will get worse as the years go by. However, it does not have to be like that as you can recover from this problem and go on to have a great life.
I wasn’t sure about AA either – in fact, to be honest, I despised AA. But, when things got bad enough and nothing else worked, I went to a meeting and have not had a drink since. The first thing that I would suggest is to educate yourself about alcoholism as you will then have a better chance of applying the right solution. Take a look at the video at the link below and watch it all the way through even if you disagree with some of what the guy is saying. Once you understand the problem, you can decide on what you want to do next. The second link lists seven alternatives to AA, but if I were you, I would not rule anything out.

That was 9 years ago. Now I have a life second to none. I am happier then I have ever been! Find a beginner's meeting and be brave and walk through that door and I can guarantee, you'll be glad you did!
God Bless
AA is only one of the many programmes out there that are available - please don't be put off from trying AA or anyone of the alternatives. The importance of finding a support network is paramount to succeeding in your journey.
Give some thought to seeing your GP for additional help and to discuss any underlying issues that may be exacerbating your craving for picking up the bottle.
Much love xx
The success of the meetings, I find, depends on the people. And even within my favorite group I have a support system that is made up of different people in my time of need.
It makes a different and it took me about a year to "fit in" and identify the people who could lead the way.
