is my husband an alcholic

from the moment my husband gets in he drinks until he goes to bed. he is very rarely drunk but can get through at least 2litres of larger and sometimes nearly a whole bottle of wine. i got so cross with him this evening i told him i would no longer lend him beer money. Am i over reacting?

No. That is how it starts. That is too much alcohol, soon it will not be enough.

he use to have an alcohol problem before i met him. about a year ago he only drank weak larger now he drinks slightly stronger stuff that he wouldnt have touched a year ago. what can i do? i really need help to know how to get through to him

Hi.
My husband of almost 9 years does the same .... gets in from work and drinks until bed. We don't talk anymore, don't spend time together, don't go out etc. I am at my wits end and don't know what to do. He won't get help as he can't see he has a problem but last week he was off work sick so just drank all day every day, getting through 84 pints in the week. We have debts yet he doesn't care. We have not been intimate for over 8 years after I was told I was unable to have children and had a breakdown.
I am desperate for advice and just someone to chat to who has gone through the same. I have even said I will leave but he just carries on as if nothing said.

If you can get him to a doctor to get his liver checked, that should tell you everything you need to know. Then you have to decide what you want to do.

You need alot of support for yourself and I recommend Alanon...

I used to drink 12-18 bud lights when I drank - maybe once a week. Then I switched to stronger beers - 9 and 10%. Used to be a a few,, 3-4. After a while it was 9-10 or 12 of those, even though they were three times the alcohol content.

Daily drinking is not only a sign of a problem but no way to spend your free time.

No you are not overreacting. His disease is progressing. It will not go away on its own. He has to want to get sober. If he doesn't want it, try going to al anon. It will do wonders for you, and you need to take care of you.

    check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

     I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
