Twenty five years ago when i was learning to drive, my professional instructor, great guy, told me, "Wendy, you must look at where you are intending to drive, not to the sides of the road or anywhwere else, because wherever your line of sight is, you will drive in that direction - even off the road". This thread just reminded me of that and hey, isn't that just a reflection of what everyone is saying here too?

I believe that what input goes in to us helps frame what type of person we become - be that positive or negative - and with the negative, that doesn't necessarily mean one becomes a BAD person, but it can certianly affect life skills, our robustness and our life trajectory.

I have been learning about brain plascticity science that says that contrary to long term scientific wisdom, not only children have plastic brains and can evolve quickly and change, so do adults. It's very inspiting as an alcoholic and for me as a psych patient too. As someone from an horrific childhood though it takes years of intense work in various fields to change those neuronal pathways, but there can definitely be progress.

Inonuthing. I very much relate, as much as I have worked hard on it, I still do envy peope who I think have something I aspire to, or things I have geneuinely lost the opportunity to have forever, such as children. It's a pointless, destructive, but all too human emotion.
