Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
So the steps I'm taking seem to be helping. I'm feeling positive and that's big for me. Starting to take every moment of happiness I do have as a movement to believing I can be happy longer than a few moments at a time. But I struggle at bed time because I don't sleep well and when I don't I think a drink would help me but I know that it's a bad pattern to get into. I have terrible dreams mostly surrounded by my past with Alcohol : /. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and been able to help themselves??? And thanks again for all the support!

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

The good news is that you can be happy for most of the time, and even when life throws up those difficult problems, you can still be reasonably content, providing that you learn to accept things that you cannot control.
It will take some time to adjust to life without alcohol and there will be some uncomfortable times along the way. However, most things that are worthwhile come at a price and it will be well worth the effort. There is a great deal of information available that will help you to tackle the sleep issue, between Google and your doctor so alcohol is not required in order to sleep. The dreams are normal and they will gradually go away so don’t worry about that.
Be aware that you mind may try to convince you to drink and will come up with reasons to justify drinking. No matter how genuine those reasons may seem, be ready to reject them and keep on your chosen course. Good luck.
The dreams result from past judgements so you just need to forgive yourself to heal. There is a prayer I like to use that has helped me tremendously. Here it is:
"Take this from me and look upon it, judging it for me.
Let me not see it as a sign of sin and death, nor use it for destruction.
Teach me how NOT to make of it an obstacle to peace,
But let You use it for me, to facilitate its coming."
God Bless
