I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

The reply from tinydancer02 answers your question very well. Your friend seems to have a serious problem with alcohol and probably needs to stop drinking. Encourage him to go to a few AA meetings.
If you are in a relationship with this person, you have a lot of thinking to do, because his drinking is likely to get worse.
We will pray for you both.
God Bless
He must want to start this journey for himself.
If he's already drinking before work it raises the question whether he's secretly drinking at work, he's already putting himself and others in danger and that is a serious cause for concern. Your post doesn't say how he travels to work or what he does for work but nonetheless he's at risk of losing everything and worse still!
Whilst your friend has a decision to make, so do you. Without help your friends drinking Is going to progress even further into the depravity of alcoholism.
