So tonight there is a Reunion of my College Fraternity. Its one of those facebook groups and the invites are out and there are about 9-10 ppl that are coming.  Its at the local beer brewery and I am going to drop by.  I really want to catch up with some of these guys but I know that its not the environment that I need to be in long.  I plan to show up a little late and then to leave early.  I hope the bartender is cool and there are other options.  I dont want to drink today but the issue I get is that I see others drinking and having a good time and i get jealous.  The thing is, those other ppl wont be drinking all week long after the time they spend at a brewery.  I would. 


Oh well, just checking in, I would appreciate any thoughts and prayers.  I will check in when I leave.

I know that feeling very well. I'm still pretty new at sobriety. I'm close to 7 months. I went out last weekend and everyone was drinking except me,and it was very hard. The same thing will be happening today. It's always a struggle for me to be around alcohol because it was a part of my life for so long. Ive found what helps me in these situations is when I'm seeing people drinking and having fun and I'm feeling jealous,I think about all of the negative things alcohol did to my life. I think about all the countless times I was so sick I was sure I was going to die. I think about my rock bottom. I think about all of the things that could have happened but thankfully did not. And then I don't feel so jealous. I don't have the urge to be drinking with everyone quite so badly. I also remind myself about how hard it was to get these 7 months and how terrible I would feel losing that and starting over again. It helps me get through those situations. I know it's hard dealing with this,but remind yourself of why you quit drinking when that urge come up. I hope you have fun. Don't give in!!!! You got this! :)

The last time I was at a social event with a bar and alot of drinking, I just told the bartender to give me a coke because I was driving and he was thankful that somebody was so it all worked out. Before I went, I asked for God's protection and nobody bothered me, nor did I have any cravings.

Asking the help of our Higher Power but allowing Him to take care of the details, works for me every single time. I can't think of a time when it didn't.

Well I made it thru without any big issues. We met at a brewery and it was some awkward when everybody has a glass of beer and I had the plastic cup but there was no judgement from any of my frat bros. We then went to a Irish pub and I had a good gyro and more cokes. They all drank normally and I left before it got too late. No real big deal but I had sort of worried about it all week. The thought of will I go or won’t I go... in the end I’m glad I went but also glad I didn’t drink.

    check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

     I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
