Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Day one....tomorrow. I had a great day planned at work. I was going in to be our costumed mascot. So what do I do? I leave my place early and go to a bar. Get smashed. Then go to work and have more alcohol at the bar in the building. I can barely stand up and they send me home. So, I'm not really sure what to expect when I go to work Friday. I'm a moron and I continue to ruin everything because I can't just stop drinking.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I remember my employer giving me an ultimatum. Get help for your problem or you won't have a job anymore. That was my motivation. I knew I needed help. I could no longer do it alone. That moment was when I finally realized, I needed to put control of my life into the hands of another who could emotionally support me and tell me how to stay sober. It was a letting go of my ego and an awakening!.
So I began going to AA meetings. I got a sponsor and did the steps. It changed my life forever. Long story short, now I have a great job and I have never been happier.
Keep in touch. The path you take on your road to recovery, might help someone else.
God Bless
I’m glad you reached out. What Bob wrote was really good ^ I agree it’s good start admitting you have a problem. Don’t give up on yourself okay, keep reaching out as much as you need
Sending you support, hope & many prayers

Today I have put some distance between me and the nipple. I’ve matured and find I’m actually happy with who I have become.
Alcohol is a drug, it’s addictive and will take all.
The Ego is at the root of this problem. A feeling of superiority that is fueling the need to get blotto. The need to hide from oneself.
The question is what to do now?
Keep your head up and have you considered some therapy?
Getting away from Alcohol is like trying to pull myself out of a hole by pulling on my bootstraps. It just cannot be done without some help
Every sober day I add,I become a more stable person. My mood is constantly optimistic. Because I’m not drinking a depressant everyday.
I quit on my own my first attempt at sobriety. I had reached the point where I had enough of feeling like a failure. If I hadn’t had that shift in perspective when I made the commitment to myself to never let a drop of alcohol pass my lips again I would still be an alcoholic.
My sobriety is my treasure, I’ll never give it up. It’s deeply personal and has given me a life I didn’t know was possible.
I’ve noticed your past posts and hope you find the motivation to become accountable for your behavior this time around. These windows of clarity don’t stay open long.
You know what I’ve discovered about self honesty? It’s only uncomfortable for a short period then it becomes a way of life.
It will only get worse, never better, that is something I have seen on a weekly basis as I attend AA meetings where people are like actors in a script, they come in , get better, and bam back on the nipple. It’s the sneaky thing with alcohol, when it’s not there the addict thinks it was never a big deal and wham… back on the merry go round. That’s the 99 other people…. I scrap to be the 1% and honestly if I don’t address my alcoholism daily by simply doing a couple of things, I will be gone and a victim of the odds.
The future will look like this if you continue the way you are:
No job, no friends (except for other alcoholics), no money and eventually you will lose everything you value in your life.
It may sound harsh, but that is the honest truth.....................you are on the path to self-destruction - you either stop today and make the necessary changes, or you continue and destroy your life - your choice !
One moment at a time
Gentle hug <3
Keep your chin up, you deserve a good life, go out and grab life by the horns and hold on for the ride
C’mon!
