Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Ive made up my mind to go to my first meeting tonight. I keep messing up. Saying I won't do this again and then end up black out drunk and throwing up the next day. I can't keep living this way. I'm disgusted with myself. I guess for now that's a good thing because it shows me that I really want to be a better person. I don't want this life for myself anymore. I want to be better.

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

That is a good attitude to have. Going to the first AA meeting can be the start of your journey to recovery but there will be some work to do before you get to where you would like to be.
When I went to the first meeting, it was suggested that I should try to attend ninety meetings in ninety days. I don’t think that suggestion is taken from the AA principles and I would not necessarily agree with it but the idea behind it is still good and sound. I didn’t do the 90 in 90 but I did go to about six meetings per week for the first three months. What I am saying is that it is a good idea to attend many meetings at the start.
There are several advantages from going to different meetings, one being that some meetings are better than others. Listen to what other people share, especially other ladies. You will soon see who the winners are so you can stick with them and copy what they do.
