Ugh. Sorry to hear, Bob. Running helps, but will help more is immersing yourself into the program. You'll sit and stew and feel sorry for yourself and the next thing you know a drink will be in your hand.

You know what you need to do. It's just up to you take some action in getting there. Place your trust where it needs to be.

Life happens Bob. We can fight it or go with the flow. Being vindictive is her way of wanting to hurt you. When push comes to shove they are only words. Be the bigger man. Wish her well and move on the best you can. Sure it hurts but we simply cannot afford to allow people ,places and things to DICTATE to us how we are going to feel and act.Stay strong

I am so sorry. However you know without needing to be reminded that drinking will only make everything worse. The most important thing is NOT to isolate, get to as many meetings as you can and be around others you can vent to and get support. Exercise and eating right will help physically. You might consider some counseling to help with the emotional pain. Divorce is a death and we all need help getting through it. Keep in touch. hugs d

Bob- being around this type of negative influence would be emotionally and physically draining for anyone. Since the marriage is over, can you or your soon-to-be ex-wife live somewhere else? I just think it would be very tough to live in close proximity with each other at this point. Best to find separate living arrangements so that you can get on with your life.

The Big Book points out that other people, alcoholics or not, can be sicker than we are. I think it might be helpful to keep in mind that at this point at least, where your STB ex is inflicting pain, she may be quite a bit sicker than you, and that what you can do about it is keep your own side of the street clean....there's more in there about it if you're interested.

Being sober doesn't mean being calm and civil 100% of the time. You're supposed to be pissed. Just don't drink or kill anybody.

Running is a good start. I went through a divorce years ago when I was super volatile, and on my own in a foreign country. My x was super well connected there. I got through it with daily runs, listening to my favorite play list the entire time each time and time with my then puppy.
Drinking can only make this situation way way worse. And I'd be willing to bet if you stay sober, you'll look back at this as a gift. Shitty as it may seem at the moment.
So run, reach out to other alcoholics, share like you are here and in real life and don't even consider drinking an option.

This is crazy but I think Bamboo is correct! Now I'm beginning to think that my wife made alot of this up just to make me jealous! She came back home today and acted like everything is normal again. It's the truth that she was with an old childhood friend but the rest of the story, I am not sure about. She was pissed at me because I didn't call her on her cell and beg her to come back home and tell her how much I missed her. She showed me what looked like a friendship ring and said it was an engagement ring and that he asked her to marry him and she said yes. 5 minutes later she said he would probably never be back up here again.
