Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

3Rd day without alcohol. Kind of shakey to be honest. I'm looking to lower my high blood pressure, lose weight and be healthier. The possibility of getting a stroke or heart attack is scary enough. The only thing I'm thankful for is I never had either one in life and I refuse to wait for one to happen

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!
God Bless!
But, way to go on day 3. Being healthy is absolutely the best thing for staying alive, and the bonus will be that being sober, you're far more likely to enjoy life. Don't rush, keep your eyes on the horizon, but if you're not there now, good diet and exercise will be huge in managing BP, blood sugar, cholesterol and general sense of well-being. You're on the road. Good for you.
Some people find it triggering as they contain a very very small (0.05%) alcohol content, but for me, it gives me just what I need: a cool, refreshing non-alcoholic drink in the afternoon that isn't full of sugar like lemonade or Iced Tea. I am learning to get used to the non-alcoholic beers.
I usually open a beer the second I get home so what I've been doing is going from work to a friend's place or coming home, changing into gym clothes and going for a walk. I'm lucky enough to live on the beach so there's plenty of great tracks to take and it's also summer here so it's usually sunny up until 8PM. Giving me something to occupy my time with in the afternoons after work and also keeping healthy at the same time.
Another thing I've been doing is on the weekend or when I decide I want to have a non-alcoholic beer, I have been pouring it into a glass. It seems like not a big thing, but I used to always drink beer out of the bottle. This is kind of a mental thing I've decided to do for myself to help me change my perception of a drink in the afternoon. It has been working for me so far.
