Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I dont think its that big of a deal to be in a relationship with a normal drinker. It does agitate me to see the wine in the glass and the jealousy comes up but Im just not a normal drinker. She can do as she wants and I just need to worry about me. I choose to not drink and that is that

I need to stop worrying about it.
My wife drinks a glass or two of wine several times a week but it does not bother me in the least. In fact, I have bought her a bottle of wine on special occasions.
The reason why it never bothers me that there is alcohol in the house and seeing other people drinking is that I fully accept that I am an alcoholic and cannot drink safely. What other people drink is their own business.
I believe that if I had not gone to AA meetings and got a sponsor to help me through the Twelve Steps that I would still be in a battle against the urge to drink. As a result of the Steps, the problem has been removed
You may not be able to get your husband sober but you can start helping yourself.
It is not ideal to be away from your family and friends at a time of need so it is vital that you should have some other sort of support system. Is there a women’s group in the area that could offer you emergency accommodation or maybe social services could help?
I would strongly urge you to look up Al-Anon and go along to some meetings. You can learn a lot from other people who are dealing with the same problem. The group below on DS may also be of some assistance.

TLY, I'm sorry for your circumstances. If you are so afraid of your husband when he drinks that you're sleeping in your car in some parking lot, it's seriously time to evaluate the situation. Think about it. You are allowing him to hold you hostage. Please get help from your family, friends. It may be time to get out of the situation. Best of luck, Dianna
