Agoraphobia & Social Anxiety Support Group
Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder, often precipitated by the fear of having a panic attack in a setting from which there is no easy means of escape. As a result, sufferers of agoraphobia may avoid public and/or unfamiliar places. In severe cases, the sufferer may become confined to their home, experiencing difficulty traveling from this "safe place."
Hey everyone I'm new. Not to sure if I fit. I have ptsd from some sexual trauma there fore I don't fit into social norms. I hate leaving my home and being around anyone except my awesome wife and two girls. Can anyone give me info on agorphobia(hope I spelled it right).

Welcome! Read the support group description. It might help you a little. I have sexual abuse issues too and I do like to hide in my home. It has helped me having a therapist. You might want to check into that. I'm glad you have a family to be with. I live a lone and fear really does intensify out of control. I hope you find some peace with participating in this world.

No one fits in all of the social norms. That is no reason to separate yourself from other people. You probably fit into most general social/physical norms, so don't take that for granted. Having something that isn't normal is in the long run, normal itself.

Hey I have a question for you, how does your wife handle it? I'm in a relationship with a man who has anxiety, depression, and agoraphobia. It's really difficult and my whole family wants me to break it off with him, but I love him so much. How are the two of you handling it?

Welcome. I too have ptsd. I believe it contributes to my fear of leaving home and being social. Thank goodness for family that understands.

On Saturday, while I was at yard sales with my best friend, my lawn guy texted me that he did my lawn. This costs me $70 every two weeks or so. I don't have great grass so sometimes, he skips.
