ADHD / ADD Support Group
Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and attention deficit disorder (ADD) are more common than you might think. It is a syndrome that exhibits symptoms such as hyperactivity, forgetfulness, mood shifts, poor impulse control, and distractibility. Join others who suffer from these conditions and share your experiences.
Just to clarify my question, "what has helped you overcome depression in the past?"
You had mentioned counseling and time.
Were there specific techniques the counselor used? Did he/she ask you to journal and keep track of your thoughts? Do you think it was just having someone to talk to who validated your feelings that helped you? Did your therapist offer advice? Give you assignments? There are a lot of counselors out there and some help better than others. Some are more experienced and know what type of counseling works better for you, and others you may just click with better. Can you remember what was really helpful with that particular counselor? Sorry to be a pain, with all these questions.
So why isn't there a group for Adults with ADD?
Thank You for posting this topic--I really appreciate reading how others have difficulties in there normal day to day activities. I am glad I am not alone.
look for it the next time you are on
I feel like family. LOL.
I always wondered if there was a connection between Adult Add and HSPs (Highly Sensitive People). I am definitely both! Even the sound of the phone ringing sends shrills up/down my spine.
I cry at funerals for people I don't even know, I just see someone crying and the floodgates open. And flourescent lighting (like the kind they have in big box stores) spaces me out and gives me a headache. Crowds drain me, and if there is loud music, forget about it. Unless I'm drinking, A lot. But I have to avoid that with the medicine I'm on.
Okay, now I have to find this new group. Look forward to seeing you there.
