The biggest obstacle for me is getting past my bad habits that I was so accustomed to, like procrastination. The meds will work, but you need to work on fixing the bad habits you've created to cope with your disability your entire life.
1. Create daily and long-term lists. Develop systems for monitoring and followup. o
2. Create procedures for not losing things and paying bills.
3. Work hard on confronting rather than deferring problems
4. Work on emotional intelligence and interacting with people based upon their mode of thinking.
5. Accept what you cannot change and recognize that going over past mistakes accomplishes nothing. Just work on developing better practices and procedures in the future.
I also realize that while in my spare time, going from task to task is comforting, at work and elsewhere, sometimes I have to work hard on specific tasks. In a down economy, I earned a six figure income working hard. I cannot always say it was easy but I did it. I just think organizational tasks are a little harder for people like me, not that we cannot do it.
The problem is that you can't always turn it off..::)
Good luck..
