Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

Just to update you, Mum is doing really well... she is walking again, all be it with a walker but its improving all the time.
When she came home, she was only able to walk say 10 meters assisted, now she spends more time out of the wheelchair than in it. She was in it Sunday night and only really used it today as she had her monthly checkup.

The platelets they are not worried they say its just normal to be low and slow, she has one week they may be up to 109 (highest they have been) then they go down and then then go up, they did show mum her chart and its like a big wave... last fortnight they were 86 so its on the up wave again.
That stupid (but important ) Cyclosporine she is being weened off, reduced again today and then again in 2 weeks... Can not wait as we all think this is the source of the non-walking problem (each time it has reduced she has improved).
Anyway all is good, she feels great and learning to live with a slight disability at the moment, is better than other outcomes :)

I spoke with Laarissa today who is +30 post SCT. She asked that I report she is doing well except for the challenge of getting enough water in everyday. Her med-team at Huntsman is very happy with her progress. Thank you for your prayers.

The doctor did restrict him to only seeing patients in the clinic (psych) so he would not be exposed to germs in the hospital and although he had 3 appointments scheduled for Monday 2 cancelled, so he only saw 1 patient.
The doctor has not mentioned a BMB, so I don't know if or when they will do one.

I had a BMB about 10 days ago - remission and chimerism shows 100% donor. Woohoo!
I went out for a work meeting yesterday for the first time and it felt great.
Overall I feel ok. Still very very fatigued and my stomach isn't quite right, my Dr. says it could be a reaction to the Cyclosporine.
It's great to read everybody's updates here!

I remember Tony having the same thing happen so I am hoping this is normal and that everything will be fine.

Although I'm chemo only, my platelets are over the place. I just got an update from Larissa who is +50 and she said her platelets are up and down. 180 to 130. It seems that this bouncing around is the norm rather than the exception.
Larissa is doing very well and has been allowed to move back into her home which is 80+ miles from the hospital. She said to thank all for their prayers.
It is great to hear that Larrisa is doing well and getting to go home.
