Abstinence & Celibacy Support Group
The pressures of sex from peers, the media and culture can be overwhelming, but you are in total control of your body and celibacy is a choice that many are making. Find sanctuary with people who are choosing to abstain without fear of judgment.
Hi, I am new to this group. I finally found a group of people who understand. I have been celibate for over 10 years. And quite happy with being celibate. I gave my life to God many years ago. But have never been into sexual relationships. I have dated but anything sexual was usually imposed "because thats what your supposed to do in those relationships because you love the other person" or it was expected which about that time i broke it off with the person. I have had past experences with people not getting the point that no means no, and so forth. But even as a child sex wasn't love to me. It still isn't to me. But i have had a lot of issues with i guess it would be a type of peer pressure (forgive me and correct me if i am using the wrong term) on having relationships of that sort. I don't understand why people can not seem to accept there are people who choose to remain celibate. I have no issue being honest about it. I am not ashamed of it. I just get a little annoyed that it keeps getting pressured on me. I have had so many different responses some which are just uncomfortable and rude (I really don't want to repeat them so forgive me for not elaborating) we'll anyhoo i am just glad to have found a support group that understands.

I have a possible new diagnosis to discuss with my therapist tomorrow. It might be the answer to a question that I have had since I was 19. It's called Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD). It happens to a large percentage of people with ADHD, which I have. Actually, I have been watching videos about ADD/ADHD lately. I remember my Mom telling me that she watched a show on ADD and she...

Hello- I am new to the group
Alas, this forum is not very active. I mostly hang out in the PTSD and Anxiety forums and it surprises me when a post comes up from this forum.
My own celibacy was forced on my husband and myself by scar tissue I acquired over the course of surviving child sex trafficking. Somewhere during menopause (over 10 years ago), the scar tissue overtook the healthy tissue and ? ? ? Ouchie papa. My husband certainly doesn't deserve to pay that price. My shrinks assure me I don't, either, but here we are. How fantastic is my taste in men that my hubby is still as devoted as ever? He misses sex terribly, but remains faithful to the vows he took in 1980.
Bless you for standing firm against that pressure. It is nothing shy of hideous. I'm pretty convinced child prostitution wouldn't exist without it and? ? ? Where's my neon soapbox and spiffy spandex superhero costume?
Meanwhile, DS is a big web site with allot of other flavors of more active support to offer. I hope you'll surf around to see if any of those other forums while we pray for this forum to become more active.
