  My mom lost her temper when she found a bag of one bread in the refrigerator. So I threw it out to try to make her control her temper, but she didn't stop. I feel helpless in not being able to control her emotionally abusive behavior.

  When I talk to my mom about making decisions for myself about what I want to do with my life, she would tell me I should have done things she wanted me to do with my life, and that's what I'm used to. She would tell me I suck at everything, and she's right about that. I would try to fight off the emotional abuse by myself in my head, but the bad comments would replay over and over again in my head and I would break down and start to believe those comments. I really am worthless.

  When my relatives do something that is not a big deal, my mom would start a fight with them for putting things in the room like placing a pan on the stove to use to cook some food, and she would lash out at them. She would get mad about everything my relatives want to do for themselves. I would get scared, and I would freeze.

  When my family gets aggressive with me or each other over everything, I would get scared. And when the abuse stops, my family would be nice to me or each other like nothing happened. Sometimes it would happen at the same time. And I would get confused about the aggressive and honeymoon episodes that are happening at home. I would think to myself, am I going crazy, or does my family have split personalities?
