  When I was diagnosed with ideopathic PN 25 years ago i was told it would probably get worse over the years and I think Ive been very fortunate until the last few weeks when muscle weakness in my legs is causing all sorts of knee, hip and back problems.I wanted to ask if anyone knows if execises to strengthen my leg muscles will help or does the PN damage them permanently?

  Hi, I haven't got hereditary Hemachromatosis, but I hav e been diagnosed with a Ferretin level of 850. Please can anyone tell me if this is a dangerous level. I have recently started to have pain in my wrists and knees and I'm worried that this might be caused by the ferretin levels. I have been advised to avoid red meat and alcohol. HELP!

  Hi,I've been diagnosed with iron overlaoad with a ferretin level at its highest of 880 (not sure of the unit measurements). A recent blood test showed it at 640. I've had a DNA test and I haven't got hereditary Haemochromatosis and my GP has linked my iron overload to my intake of alcohol which isn't that high -  my wife and I enjoy a few glasses of wine during the week. The decrease in iron appears to have come from my giving up the wine which I'm very happy to maintain, but I'm interested...

  Hello, I've just joined - in UKMy GP did blood tests for another issue and discovered my ferretin level was 787 last year. I was checked for HH and I havent got it. The consultant I saw said my levels are probably due to alcohol consumption and I have made several attempts to cut down on white wine. At my highest I drink about 60 units a week, which I know is high. A more recent test showed that my ferretin level was 820 so it has gone up. Are these levels very dangerous, and should I give up...
