SO SAD!
Wednesday night: First of all, to those who have sent such kind messages, thank you. As always, you are my strength when I cannot stand alone. Such a loss! I adored Melissa! It is like losing a daughter. We have grown very close since Scott died. Adam and she have been together 1 1/2 years and were planning on getting married next summer. She, as I have said before, had Cystic Fibrosis. Such an awful disease! We knew she would die young. We just didn't think it would be NOW! She just got out of the hospital last Thursday. She was feeling good. On Sat. she was feeling really good and had plans to come over on Sunday. But, late Sat. night she called 911 because she could not breathe. Her Dad came home from work about 1 a.m. and found the EMT's trying to get the screen off her window. She died, officially, at the hospital. She was feeling good! It blind-sided us! Visitation was Tuesday night and the funeral was today, Wed., at 10:30 a.m. It was so hard! Another beautiful young person gone. I will post photos later. She was sunshine! So much of the daughter I never had. My heart is so heavy and my strength is gone. And yet, I have to be, or at least pretend, to be strong for Adam. He loved her so much. And at the service when they told her survivors they included Adam as "the love of her life." He was, by choice, a pallbearer. I have to say, even when he wanted to run, he stuck it out. Losing a brother and a girlfriend/fiance in less than a year is a lot for a man of 21 to bear. He just turned 21 on the Thurs. Melissa was released from the hospital. He saw her that day. We all were looking forward to seeing her on Sunday! Adam is not doing well. I am so afraid for him. He has always struggled with depression. I am trying my best to make sure he is not alone. Tonight he is staying with a friend so he won't be alone tomorrow. I have to find something for Friday. That is my last day of work and then I can be with him. I JUST DO NOT UNDERSTAND!

I am so sorry honey. I will be praying for you and Adam. I don\'t know what else to say. Love and big hugs to you. Love, Barbara
You are in my thoughts and prayers. Do you think Adam would benefit by talking with a counselor or bereavement specialist? Kids his age usually think they can handle things on their own. But, by \"handling\" it they will usually avoid dealing with their pain or act on it in unhealthy ways. Just a thought. Love to you, Adrianne
I am so sorry for all of you--and Adam, what a shattering experience for someone so young! None of us can understand why such bad things happen to good people. Stay as close to him as he will allow, but this will take him a long, long time to accept. I am saying prayers for you all--Take care, Judy
I too am so sorry for you both. Will this ever stop. I am praying for you and Adam. Love, Rhonda
I\'m so sorry. I can\'t imagine the pain he is feeling. He has to be in shock right now. I don\'t know what to say. You are a good, caring mother , and you will do everything in your power to help him through this. We are still trying to stand alone from losing our own children.
Peace be with you at this awful time.
Love, Kelly
Ginger, I\'m not usually one to suggest what other people should do, but given all that Adam has been through it may be helpful for him to get on an anti-depressant and get some professional help. He\'s only 21 and his heart must be broken. I admire your efforts to take care of him, but sometimes they just need more than we can give. Sending you and Adam love and hope for strength, Cyn
My heart and prayers goes out to you both and Melissa family,
love U Caroline
Im so so sorry. How tragic..I heart just breaks for him and you and her family. On the other side of this she is not alone that is for sure..God Bless you all...
Ginger I too feel that Adam needs to meet with someone immediately...at least talk to someone! How overwhelming for a young man. He needs more support than you, the wonderful mother that you are, can give. I ache for you...for your son and family and Melissa\'s family...sooo hard...sooo hard. Love, prayers, strength and more love...Karen

So sorry to hear of your most recent tragedy. My heartfelt condolences to your son, Adam. It truly is a puzzle as to how such horrible stuff can keep happening. I am so sorry for both you and your son to be going through so much sorrow.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. I will say a special pray for Adam for God to gran him the strength he\'ll need. Love and hugs Cathy
My heart just goes out to you and Adam and the whole famlies. This is such a heart breaking thing. Please know I will keep your family in my prayers and hope that Adam can find the strength he needs. Much love, sheri
I\'m so sorry. My high school boyfriend died two days before my 18th birthday. My mom took me to a counselor immediately. It helped. I wasn\'t suicidal or anything but just talking to someone else other than family (because you know what they are going to say) gives you a different outlook. Prayers of peace and comfort to you, Adam, Mellissa\'s family and all of your family in the days ahead. Love Robin
