Really pissed off, again!

My psychiatrist canceled on me again!  We're going on around 10-15 cancelations on the last few years.  I really need to see him about how manic I am.  I really think I need my meds adjusted. I've seen another psychiatrist in the past, when this one has been out, but he doesn't have any appts until may.  Damn it!  Now the high I was feeling is replaced with anger and rage. I feel like throwing something. I can't keep doing this,  but I don't want to switch because I feel really comfortable talking to him and have told him things that I've never wanted to share with my others psychiatrist.

I hope you're all having a better day then me.

peace to you Mich. Maybe research online some home remedies or homeopathic remedies
for mania. I have to say your writing is so clear- so that is a good sign.
I hope you find something - some alternative remedy.
Own the issue. We each have to.
But you're not alone. Peace.

Would any of these be possibilities?

1) Partial hospitalization program. Treatment during the day, and home at night. This would give you the opportunity to talk with a psychiatrist and see if you can have your meds adjusted. Plus, one can never have too much therapy (even though it may feel like too much sometimes). Back in 2011, I asked to be admitted to a PHP when my psychiatrist was vacationing in Hawaii and left me with no other option. In my case, I was admitted with "only" thoughts of suicide, and no plan. Perhaps the same would be true in your case, especially given your history?

2) Your PCP. Mine has prescribed meds for me when I've been required to transition from one psychiatrist to another. While I think this is less likely in your case, because you're looking for a new med, rather than just an increase in dosage, perhaps it's worth considering.

3) The ER. Obviously, the least appealing option. However, always better voluntary than involuntary.

My earlier suggestions still hold. Given the rage, I would suggest an environment with very little stimulation. No music, no TV, no people, and low lighting, if you can accomplish that.

I'm assuming you have told your psychiatrist that you are manic, and he has provided you with no alternative means of getting treatment (before May). If that's the case, then in my opinion, you need a new psychiatrist.

As Mark said, you're not alone. And like him, I wish you peace.
