Dreading Work

I'm dreading going to work. I was off yesterday.  Tuesday one of my coworkers had a psychotic meltdown at work. Like screaming cussing pulling her hair out. It was aimed at me because she tried to get me in trouble and boss told her not to worry about it. I didn't do anything to get in trouble for until she attacked me and I went off on her verbally to shut up and leave me alone etc, boss agreed with me, so she had a meltdown, left, and says she quit. If she really quit and I don't get talked to anymore about what was said, I will be happy.

But I am nervous that today she will be back saying she didn't quit and I will still have to deal with her verbally abusing me and trying to get me in trouble for things I didn't do. I don't think a person should be allowed to come back to work after getting called out for doing that stuff, not to mention cussing us out and pulling her hair and throwing a fit like a child. It was scary.

I really hope this doesn't get turned around on me. Boss said I wasn't in trouble but still.

Pulling her hair out- ouchey. As long as she doesn’t pull your hair out.

Something like that happened to me once--luckily the person dissappeared and never came back--It bothered me for a while, thinking she would show up again, but she never did. This happened years ago. So she really may NOT come back, dreading work/headaches/anxiety will be gone. Sounds like a yucky incident, but try to put it past you, sounds like your boss is backing you up.

She is back today. I feel sick. They are still allowing her to work here, just in a separate area from me. I also had a meeting with two of my supervisors and was told I would be fired if anything like this ever happened again. They know I didnt do what she accused me of, but I did yell at her. This whole situation is ridiculous and childish.

Best thing to do is send an email to both supervisors confirming everything that happened on the day she verbally attacked you and also everything that was said in the meeting after she returned. That will protect you from being falsely accused and fired or at least proof for unemployment if you’re fired.

Thanks I never thought of that as I have had many jobs in my life and never been fired or written up. Never worried about unemployment either because I always get jobs pretty easily. I've had a couple other employees who are above me in rank take my side. They defended me and told me not to worry about what happened.
It's been my experience that people like the psycho run their self out the door. At least we are being separated. I just can't believe she still has a job here after the fit she threw. Some of us don't feel safe and can't believe she showed up here to work today.

Visualization has helped me through such stress shuffles. In similar scenarios, visualize them in the window of a mental institution has helped me remember that happy, healthy people don't do these things. Healing hopes for all. No exceptions.

Steadying support while you work it through, Ghost. Your boss and co-workers sound too precious to lose over one woman in need of therapy.

The law says that your employer has to provide a safe work environment. If you feel unsafe go to your HR dept.

I would take legal advice. Seriously. Just to be safe. You are entitled to protect yourself by shouting so long as you didn't use expletives

I'm looking into employment elsewhere. This is affecting my sleep and causing unnecessary anxiety. I would like to work until December so I can get my bonuses. She cussed us all out and threatened all of us. Maybe my boss let her come back because he is afraid of her.
But I won't tolerate further verbal abuse. I can do better. And I would like to move anyway. I'm hoping my brother's estate is settled soon so i can deal with my inheritance and sell some property then get the fudge out of this hole.

I should quality my statements. Your colleague is way out of line but you get a warning? I would ask your supervisor if Your colleague has been warned and what steps they have taken to protect you. Ask for health and safety policies. Then see a lawyer

I think you have the potential to take a case if this happens again

They told me if anything like this ever happened again I would be fired. That's the main thing bothering me about this.
Something similar happened at the job I had before this. I was attacked and threatened by a person in another department because she thought something had happened between me and her son. (I didn't know it was her son)
She attacked me on the sales floor and I was stocking shelves and had a box cutter in my hand. Because of that, I was the one who got in trouble for threatening her, which didnt happen. Later my boss also yelled at me because he said he was "tired of hearing about it" because I was trying to file a case with hr. I ended up getting an offer from my current job and quit that one.
Now it is happening again. I have been attacked in the past and I know it is nothing to take lightly. Since they refuse to deal with this properly, I will likely just leave. My mom has talked to her lawyer about it. It can get tricky because I'm not allowed to record coworkers conversations, therefore I have no proof. Even tho I have 2 coworkers who sided with me as witnesses.
Also I had to stay over nearly an hour yesterday because of a discrepancy in my paperwork, which I found the solution for, but nobody listened to me and were still flipping out this morning until another employee stepped in and solved it. Then another thing happened today. It's like everything I do is being scrutinized under a microscope to try to get me in trouble. This is ridiculous, especially when the other employee who didnt get fired is not qualified to even work here. She has no hs diploma and no job experience and is like 10 years older than me wtf. I have 2 college degrees and going on 10 years customer service experience and held management positions at previous jobs.

It can do no harm to talk to a lawyer.

It can harm my wallet, they don't give free consultation
