At this point I'm FED UP, boiling
I've been in nursing homes & assisted living facilities. The buck passing that goes on has me so pissed off I want to punch someone in administration, because I can't get anything DONE (even when they SAY they are starting the paperwork). Then again, they would tell me I should be punching someone ELSE. I am so damn frustrated waiting for a new assisted living to invite me; then again it's ALL ABOUT THE MONEY or someone has to die to create a vacancy. I hate assisted living; I hate nursing homes where I have NO PRIVACY. It's so miserable...sometimes I just wish I'd pass away in my sleep.....

I can relate to that. I was in a nursing home only for a short while and the abuse, mistreatment and lack of quality care was very damaging to me, even with it being just a few weeks stay. I fear being forced to give up my home and am pinching pennies and living very simply and hoping my illness does not become so severe as to be removed from my home.
I\'m sorry to have to admit but I think the choice of final exit should be ours when we are denied quality life. Exit international is trying to pass laws making it possible for us to have \'choice\'. Quality of life is ALL THAT MATTERS and to be subjected to the treatment of those using us for their profit without good quality care is very upsetting.
Ombudsmen are suppose to be with every facility. Do you have one that can represent your issues? If I were well and close by I would sure love to help. Are there any local churches or anyone who can give some, at least, emotional support to what you are going through?
I\'m glad you have at least access to the Internet as where I was located there was none. These days I have my smart phone if away from the house which is only four times a year. I\'m just sorry you are not in a better situation and hope this changes very, very soon. Keep me posted.

Gene, you sound really frustrated, and with good reason! Is there anything we cld be doing in the way of phone calls, books etc that would help in any way? You know we love you; and we would do anything if we just knew what wld make your waiting less stressful!

Gene, I feel so bad for you and I wish there was something I could do to help. Is there any place or person that would accept a letter to try and help you get somethinhg moving? Just having to wait for someone else to pass the buck is so stressfull and depressing that I know how that goes. NOT as severe as YOU are going through but I wish there were a social worker or an address I could write to on behalf of you. How about your brother? an he somehow get an edge inside the problem that you keep butting heads with? Know that I will be keeping you in my prayers in hopes a divine intervention can get something stated for you. Oh Gene, try to hang in there a little longer as something has to open up soon. Only if thease workers who drag their feet and sometimes even ignore their patients could realize this could be them one day.How would they feel.I had to deal with the nursing home where my Dad was recoverying at.He recieved such poor rehabilitation.They even tried to make him stay after his attending doctor released him.I was not letting them get away with it.One thing these places dont like is when you call the insurance company.You definatly need someone in your corner.

I am so very sorry about your situation....it is really deplorably difficult. I second the idea of trying to enlist an ombudsman and or your brother as a special advocate to monitor and forward your interests....someone needs to work with you and with the people at the two facilities (the current one and the one/s you are interested in)......
I wish so very much a really good facility could become your place of residence...I think that would be such a good thing....
is it clear that there IS a plan to move from where you are?
If so, maybe you could ask the SW to write down the \'schedule\' for you and maybe a written idea of what the \'plan\' is...you could pretend that you do better remembering when things are written (it is true for me!)......
My thoughts are with you and sending good energy to you and wishes for a quick and satisfactory resolution to your pain.....

The \"system\" has failed you miserably and for you to post a journal means that you are really fed up. Your last sentence saddens me and makes me angry that you are in this position where you feel this way. You need an advocate that would really speak up and shake things up and light a fire underneath some people to get things going, but in an imperfect world that is hard to find or the ones that would are not available. The assisted living and nursing home system is not uniform all over where all residents are treated well, not all assisted/nursing homes are created equal.
I hope you know how much your friends on here care and that we are your cheering squad and how much we all hope that something will be done to remedy this awful rut you are in.
Please don\'t give up-yeah easy for me to say, but please keep trying, one of these days something could change, someone may hear you finally and do something, someone may come along that will make some heads roll.

I wish the USA would come up with a better system for the disabled or the elderly .
It took me several weeks to find a SNH for my mom...as this Country ages..there are going to be MILLIONS of elderly and disabled , who will have NO HOME

tell me what you are looking for and i can see if i can find something down here for you IF YOU WANT. or is it important to stay in mass? my friend even owns a facility here. do you want an apartment with some care available if you want it, INCOME BASED. or do you want a facility that does it all for you to begin with that also accept pets....or not....what do you like gene? xxoo
