Hi! I had a stroke over 10 years ago;both my legs are swollen & tight from edema/cellulitis so both legs are extremely cramped/tight-muscled, making movement/ standing up difficult (only muscle relaxants help but make me drowsy); the calves are very sensitive to the touch. I believe my sense o\' humor has kept me going. Lost my thyroid to cancer...no big deal, so I\'m on thyroid meds the rest of my \"life\"...The State keeps denying me additional physical therapy making matters worse & worsen..my legs keep tightening, damnit & currently have an open wound that drains into my sock. I am lucky to be alive, with MOST of my mind intact (my memory sucks), except I am in a wheelchair, because my left side is compromised, both arm & leg, & my bladder...not fun, a bad joke. I am a stage 2 diabetic (pretty much in denial); doing insulin shots (NOT as bad as I THOUGHT). One diabetes PILL caused heart failure, the other kidney failure..I\'ve had both from 2 different pills. I have high cholesterol. For reasons I do not understand, I get CHILLS and/or hot flushes & hiccups, must b old age. I cannot keep up w/ wardrobe changes & lousy BP; meds seem to control it lately KINDA I am 90% indoors, xcept doctor appts. I would love to talk to other strokeys & head trauma victims...Have not seen my 2 cats in over 3 yrs.; one has been put 2 sleep due 2 diabetes. I used 2 spend a lot of time on Ebay, but eBay\'s prohibitive lowering of handling costs sucked & forced me to close. So much for the little guy;eBay was STARTED for us and by us! Handicap services in Massachusetts are marginal & are frequently run by the mentally deficient, so, yes, I am VERY frustrated & venting could be nice. I\'m sick of being a cash cow 4 insensitive medicos, schmucks of all shapes/sizes, & worthless health plans/VNA\'s & \"support\" agencies, but it goes with the territory. I didn\'t deal w/ life that well to begin with, but being a strokey is certainly no kind of life. Friendships don\'t seem 2 b on the horizon, but, hey, prove me wrong. MRI\'s may be SOMEONE\'s idea of a good time, but not mine... what gives w/ that? PCA\'s (helpers) have a half-life of 3 mos. or so, then it\'s atrophy time again...get me out of here. Stop me before I spread... Recently diagnosed w/ Congestive Heart Failure. I feel like I\'ve been given a death sentence, afraid of food w/ no clear answers as to what to eat (more malarky..I have LITTLE/ NO patience w/ drs., \"dieticians\", nurses! I am currently in as-is-tid \"living\" (I call Stalag) w/ most folks into their 70\'s, 80\'s & 90\'s so I am VERY isolated. (aka Retirement home & boy does IT suck! I\'m also trying 2 find my way OUT of here.DS abuse form, Dailystrength.org/ help/report-... My latest challenge was having surgery for colon cancer. I healed quickly, stitches are gone. Thanks to DS folks for their info/support re: colon cancer. In facilities there is a certain kind of person who is NOT HAPPY until they BREAK YOUR SPIRIT. They want you to cause a ruckus that YOU DID NOT CREATE...THEY DID. I am currently dealing w/ 2 \'aides\' like THAT.
