vacation
Hello...thought I would write about my weeks vacation in Arizona...being married to Jim is never dull..just wish it was less stressful at times. We were excited to go to the river (Laughlin nevada) and try out a pontoon boat that we had just purchased. It is an older boat but ran well, at least on the test river run.
We arrived to Arizona last Sunday- took the boat out on Tuesday or should I say, we launched it to the dock and it wouldn't start...so in 113 degree heat, Jim was determined to get it started. He is mechanically inclined but after 2 hours of working on it - we had to load it back up on the trailer and oh how happy that 15 minute ride back to the travel trailer was. Did I mention that I got so hot and walked to the store they have there and the manager had me sit in the "cold room" to cool off.....I could have stayed there all day....lol So Jim worked on the boat that night and said I fixed it...it was the kill switch that got stuck...ok that sounds positive doesn't it? The boat started right up on the trailer so yippee, tomorrow.......tomorrow is now here and off we go to the lake. I have to say there just isn't alot that I get excited about or look forward to but I was was excited to be on water trying to clear my head and relaxing. So the boat started after launching (yay) and off we went. It was relaxing for about 20 minutes, then the engine was getting louder and louder and Jim was becoming more concerned..Can you feel it yet? The boat engine sounded like it was stalling, would not go into gear so there we were in the middle of the lake, windy, choppy waters and we ould go NOWHERE. We were at the mercy of the water. Did I mention we took our two dogs? Lahti & Buddy (a jack russell).....Help me now.
After Jim yelled and kicked, said words I can't spell we began yelling and boats (not that many) going by, waving our arms....we were probably abut 10 miles out from the launch dock.....A boat came by and said I'll go get help for you....so after awhile (seemed like hours) we watched a boat with a flashing red light about 1/ mile across from us just kept on going by.....WHAT *&** Jim is now totally frustrated and saying we are going to be out here forever, lake isn't busy today, were srewed....blah, blah....I was already nervous and had both dogs on leashes, and because it was so windy, the biminy top was taken down so hot sun, 110 degrees, miserable.....FINALLY a family came and towed us to a closer dock where Jim had to hitch a ride to where his truck and trailer was....so for another hour or so, I waited in the boat with both dogs , drinking water, getting wet at the dock (both dogs love the water).....needless to say, for a couple of days I did not feel very well and found myself in such an emotional place. I felt so damn alone.
It is $1000 to fix - repairs done on the boat before we bought it. the bottom half of the engine wasn't bolted right.....so the rest of the week no boating and Jim calmed down so I was so glad to get home....It takes me so long now to recover from a stressful situation.....Thursday a friend and I are going to spend a day at the spa so maybe I will recover quicker.......That's how my week went ...highlight was sharing a Coke with Jennifer....
Thanks for reading my adventure....Sending much love and hugs to you all. Vicki

That was some adventure. Hope you have a lovely day at the spa.
Sounds like you deserve a spa day, enjoy! It is always nice to be pampered. Sue xo
Oh boy - sounds like The Berenstein Bear book I always used to read to the kids...\"Too Much Vacation \". Sometimes we need a vacation just to recover from vacation! The spa sounds the perfect antidote - throw some wine into the mix too!!
110??? That is inhumane!!!
This was indeed over the top and hoping the spa time will fill you back up. I would be running on empty for sure after that!
Love and care dearest Vicki,
XO Joanie
