A QUICK NOTE ABOUT CHAIN LETTERS
One of the things we're most proud of at DailyStrength is the kindness that our members show each other. Our community is one of caring, and while we're all dealing with our own struggles, we're not above reaching out a hand for others in need.
That said, I've got a favor to ask of you. Over the last week, many of our members have taken to sending out chain letters of prayer, hope or friendship to other members. While it's a noble, kind and wonderful gesture, it's overwhelming many of our other members, who are now receiving dozens, if not hundreds, of emails in their box every day. It's almost like we're all sending out too much love! ;)
I'd like to ask that folks refrain from forwarding mass chain letters to each other on the site. It's not that we want to deny you the opportunity to show your friends you care...but there are other, more personal, ways to do that, such as:
- Send a member a hug
- Write them a personal message, not for everyone, but addressing that particular person
- Read and comment on your friend's journals
- Participate in community discussions, helping others who seek it
Ultimately, the reason we'd like to discourage chain letters is so that we can increase personal communication and not overwhelm our members to the point where their email boxes are full of DailyStrength alerts.
Your love and passion is fantastic. We don't want to get in the way of that. We're simply responding to the requests of many of our members.
As always, your feedback is welcome.

Nice to meet you, very cool idea!
Hey Doug thanks for the warm welcome and yes i just recieved a proposal from someone looking for a wife lol, I posted it up in Eczema support room,
Thanks for the post about chain letters. I would MUCH rather receive someone\'s true heartfelt sentiment in the form of a hug than a mass forwarding of a chain letter that someone else wrote about someone else.
I don\'t have problems receiving the chain letters either. I just don\'t like receiving the same one more than one time around. I loved the chain letters I receieved, because my friends who were feeling bad, could send something when they weren\'t able to send a hug. It\'s okay I haven\'t sent any chain letters to anyone that I got from others since I got this message. Have a good one

I like the way you stated that, you can handle anthing with graciousness. I don\'t mind sharing some universal love to those whom blessed me with there hug\'s and support, but i hope i didn\'t offend them when i sent one out, that i had received and thought was so beautiful. thanx for the warning.
Thanks for thinking of everyone. You are a happy person..good for you
just wanted 2 say ye az nice az they r they can b quite ovawelmin so cheerz doug :)
Hello Doug, I thank you from bringing it up. It really fills up the E-mail folder, to the point that I can\' get any msg for a while. Thank you for your warning.
Thanx Doug, I felt the chain letters were too impersonal, especially the prayer ones, a prayer for someone should address their unique personal situation and come frm that persons heart, i sometimes post a personal prayer to a friend on their site or personal message them..to be honest i removed someone as my friend because i was just a \"number\"on her prayer chain, i don\'t think she ever read my journal, cos she never commented specifically about an of my entries..so i think you\'ve helped weed out those who are more into the QUANTITY of friends they have rather than the QUALITY ..yes..i love the personal touch, thats what this site is all about..thanks again..
that was pretty kewl thanks
cool.no wait.COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
rite on dude
Good comment Doug, whilst I am getting an incredible amount of support and info from DS, I agree the chain letters are not needed. There is another one doing the rounds again this week.
I agree with you well done ....
I DELETE anything that even starts to sounds like a chain letter!!
