A QUICK NOTE ABOUT CHAIN LETTERS
One of the things we're most proud of at DailyStrength is the kindness that our members show each other. Our community is one of caring, and while we're all dealing with our own struggles, we're not above reaching out a hand for others in need.
That said, I've got a favor to ask of you. Over the last week, many of our members have taken to sending out chain letters of prayer, hope or friendship to other members. While it's a noble, kind and wonderful gesture, it's overwhelming many of our other members, who are now receiving dozens, if not hundreds, of emails in their box every day. It's almost like we're all sending out too much love! ;)
I'd like to ask that folks refrain from forwarding mass chain letters to each other on the site. It's not that we want to deny you the opportunity to show your friends you care...but there are other, more personal, ways to do that, such as:
- Send a member a hug
- Write them a personal message, not for everyone, but addressing that particular person
- Read and comment on your friend's journals
- Participate in community discussions, helping others who seek it
Ultimately, the reason we'd like to discourage chain letters is so that we can increase personal communication and not overwhelm our members to the point where their email boxes are full of DailyStrength alerts.
Your love and passion is fantastic. We don't want to get in the way of that. We're simply responding to the requests of many of our members.
As always, your feedback is welcome.

Thanks Doug! I have to agree. :)
Thanks Doug, I hate chain letters.
*phew* Thanks, Doug
I personally don\'t mind them but I have only received e few from close friends. I know that they only had the best of intentions and at that particular time they helped me. For those that had an inbox full of chain letters I can understand the frustration. Amanda
that is a good thing cause i hate the letters i\'ve been getting or the getting to know you where you have to fill out dozens of questions and where your afraid if you dont send them back it will hurt their feelings..i personally don\'t like them or the chain letters thanks so much for this comment..hugs...love terri
thaz cause im tired of getting all these mean messages so i heart u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Down with the chain lettters!!
Another Ditto on this subject.........sending hugs to all tho!
when i got the first one i thought they were really lovely, till i started gettin loads of them but they did make me smile, after readin everyones comments i can see there point, u handled this just magically, well done!
My wife and I (Claire604) agree as well. From now on, anyone sending us a similar forwarded bit will be refered here to Doug\'s journal entry. Thanks for writing this Doug!
Do you think you can send this message to everyone in an email, since not everyone reads everyone elses journal postings. I felt like I was on myspace a few times, when I am here to have something deeper than myspace. I love DS. Thank you.
I think thaty the chain letters are childish, dont bother with them at all. Never will! Again thank you Doug, keep this site clean.
Thanks Doug. When I get chain letters, I open them (because I don\'t realize they are chain letters until after I open them), but then I immediately delete them without reading further. Thanks for addressing the issue tactfully. Appreciate it!
I have 7 siblings & recieve tons of chain letters & forwarded messages that by the time some of them reach me I have 6 of the same message. Yes most of them are cute, but by the time I\'ve opened the same message 6 times it isn\'t quite as cute anymore:) to where I feel bad sending it on to my friends for fear they are all in the same boat. the sad thing is then all my sisters get upset thinking I am mad because I \"didn\'t send it on to all of them\". Now they have started flooding my text on my cel with the same things \"send this to everyone you love & don\'t forget me!\" It\'s a racket to keep up with & there are days I have got to where I don\'t even read any messages I just delete them all if they say fwd without opening the \"too cute to resist fwding to you mess\". so I can see why some are overwelmed by this glad someone said something to others to help the mass mailers understand why it\'s upseting, it\'s not meant to hurt others by not answering them just somedays it can be a mailbox of nightmares to get all the messages downloaded, read, answered... to where if you aren\'t in greatest of health you have things you would rather do.
I personally don\'t have anything against the chains letters, but what bothers me is receiving the same chain letter over and over again. So, thank you for putting a stop to that.It\'s a nice gesture but I would rather receive a message,a hug, or a comment on a journal.It\'s more personal so it has more meaning. You will pay more attention to that type of love than you would to someone repeating the same thing someone else has written.
