A QUICK NOTE ABOUT CHAIN LETTERS
One of the things we're most proud of at DailyStrength is the kindness that our members show each other. Our community is one of caring, and while we're all dealing with our own struggles, we're not above reaching out a hand for others in need.
That said, I've got a favor to ask of you. Over the last week, many of our members have taken to sending out chain letters of prayer, hope or friendship to other members. While it's a noble, kind and wonderful gesture, it's overwhelming many of our other members, who are now receiving dozens, if not hundreds, of emails in their box every day. It's almost like we're all sending out too much love! ;)
I'd like to ask that folks refrain from forwarding mass chain letters to each other on the site. It's not that we want to deny you the opportunity to show your friends you care...but there are other, more personal, ways to do that, such as:
- Send a member a hug
- Write them a personal message, not for everyone, but addressing that particular person
- Read and comment on your friend's journals
- Participate in community discussions, helping others who seek it
Ultimately, the reason we'd like to discourage chain letters is so that we can increase personal communication and not overwhelm our members to the point where their email boxes are full of DailyStrength alerts.
Your love and passion is fantastic. We don't want to get in the way of that. We're simply responding to the requests of many of our members.
As always, your feedback is welcome.

Ditto!
thanks, i wasn\'t sure how to ask people how to stop, but I don\'t like getting 5 messages that are the same thing. I look forward to reading messages and then I feel let down...thnaks for taking care of this
I also agree...I was so afraid of hurting feelings if I didn\'t forward them...it was extremely overwhelming! Thanks Doug:)
ditto
i\'m glad you noticed. thanks for addressing it.
Thanks.
Like everyone else, I totally agree. Now, if anyone would like a hilarious chain letter point of view by Denis Leary, send me a message and I\'ll email it to you...it is too funny. And I can almost guarantee that if you send this letter to the person who sent you a chain letter, they\'ll never do it again!! And remember folks, it\'s Denis Leary, so prepare yourself!!
Thanks Doug - I\'m glad someone spoke out!

Someone started this as a nice gesture now it has become too much and overwhelming. I for one didn\'t want to burst anyone\'s bubble about sending it, which I\'m sure was done in all sincerity. Still enough is enough. Thank you Doug for addressing this.
Cool!
thank you doug!....i have been getting many of these a day and have been feeling guilty for not participating. one of the things i value about this site is the personal connection between members as oppose to other support sites. i would much rather prefer a personal comment as oppose to some letter just sent randomly to me because i just happen to be on some list! thank you for taking care of this!!
Double-ditto.
Thanks Doug--Hate those things. Send to five people and you will receive a blessing. How is that possible, by aggravating others to do the same. I usually delete them anyway. Way to go!
Omie
I agree, I usually delete them
I am sure someone started this as a nice gesture, but i agree with you Doug,it is just too much, enough is enough.Thank you Doug for addressing this ,and taking care of it!
Thank you. I also don\'t appreciate people trying to promote their business or try to get others to promote their business (like trying to sell something to other people). That can be very annoying.
