A QUICK NOTE ABOUT CHAIN LETTERS

One of the things we're most proud of at DailyStrength is the kindness that our members show each other. Our community is one of caring, and while we're all dealing with our own struggles, we're not above reaching out a hand for others in need.

That said, I've got a favor to ask of you. Over the last week, many of our members have taken to sending out chain letters of prayer, hope or friendship to other members. While it's a noble, kind and wonderful gesture, it's overwhelming many of our other members, who are now receiving dozens, if not hundreds, of emails in their box every day. It's almost like we're all sending out too much love! ;)

I'd like to ask that folks refrain from forwarding mass chain letters to each other on the site. It's not that we want to deny you the opportunity to show your friends you care...but there are other, more personal, ways to do that, such as:

- Send a member a hug
- Write them a personal message, not for everyone, but addressing that particular person
- Read and comment on your friend's journals
- Participate in community discussions, helping others who seek it

Ultimately, the reason we'd like to discourage chain letters is so that we can increase personal communication and not overwhelm our members to the point where their email boxes are full of DailyStrength alerts.

Your love and passion is fantastic. We don't want to get in the way of that. We're simply responding to the requests of many of our members.

As always, your feedback is welcome.

Doug, I am glad you wrote that message. I do not like chain letters personally. I love to get ecards and personal messages from others but I agree that just sending a hug, an individual message or responding to a journal entry would be sufficient and loving enough.

I have to agree with the other members. I think it\'s amazing that there\'s so much love out there but an individual message and/or a hug would be more personal and appreciated more than a mass chain letter. On that note... I gotta go send some hugs.

Thank you for this Doug. The chain letters were getting to be a bit much. I truly enjoy this site and the personal way we can all communicate.

I personally don\'t mind them but I agree with you! I\'d much rather get a hug, a comment on my jurnal or a PM. 100 is over the top...wow! Love overflow!

Thank you Doug. I think most of us would prefer personal messages, hugs and comments to our journals rather than the chain letters.

Finally, thank you Doug, this is a delicate situation, but we must remember chain letters in whatever form are evil. The prayers they ask of you are not from/to God, they are from & to man/woman who writes these innocent but deceptive letters, everyday are deceptive and fslsly represented. I, for one would likt to stop getting these chain letters, Good night and God Bless.

Thank-you, Doug, for handling this situation in a loving and sensitive way. When I saw the \'chain mail\' in my message box, all I could think of was, \"Oh, no, not here too!\" I nearly always delete any type of chain letter. I love this site and greatly appreciate your monitoring it and your efforts to rid the site of \'chain\' mail.

Thank you Doug for sending out this message. I\'ve gotten the \"hugs from members\" and that\'s all it said and it\'s from numerous people. I was getting very frustrated with that and yes, I got many. I didn\'t like it. thanks. I like the personal touch as you said with comments on my journal entries, hugs to me personally and messages. When that stuff started happening....then, the members who were writing to me....many of them....only participated in those \"chain comment\" sayings and I stopped getting many comments, hugs or messages. Thank again for handling this. Betty
