My daughter is off school this week and my partner is supposed to look after her. Which he did up until he decided to go and get wine from the shops. I got home to find him quite drunk. He got angry when I threw the bottle away and turned quite nasty. My daughter kept asking why papa was not very nice. I rushed her dinner and bed time routine to get her to sleep early hoping he'd fall asleep, which eventually he did. I was thinking of taking her to a hotel in the worst case scenario because I could tell he wasn't able to control his temper. I told my colleague at work who helped me get some prospective. I then emaed my boss whose husband is in AA and asked to work from home for the rest of the week explaining that I can't leave him with her.
He's such a good dad but when he drink he's no longer the man I love. He let's 'him' in our home and subjects me and my daughter to 'his' nastiness.
He can stay off the booze for a few days but then has this craving which he does not seem to be able to control.
And tonight I was scared.
He refuses to seek help willingly. We all know we can't force them to.
The best case scenario is alwaysnto get you and your daughter to safety. I've only done it once but I would do it again, I hate for you that you have to live like this. My AH is in recovery but not fully and I just have no trust, he's destroyed all of it. I don't like leaving her alone with him or even trust that he's going to do the responsible thing. It's sad that they are so much more invested in their own selfish pursuits than their children.
Interesting that you refer to him as someone else when he's drunk. I do that all the time, too. It's like it's not my husband anymore....he's left, and worse, he's left me with this A$$ hole to deal with who is angry and I'm scared of him. Why did you leave me? What's so bad that you have to go? I don't get it. I empathize with you and pray for peace for you.
definitely someone else! I only see the man I married a couple hours a week, only in the am before work or on weekends before he's got his excuse to leave. I'm to the point that I hate the man he is drunk and would be fine if he didn't come home. But when I see the sober in him it makes me wonder if it can ever be better. I just need to work on letting go of the hope and guilt.
Sorry panda, I know how frustrating it is when you can't depend on them to help out, for one day even. Wish u luck!
