For the first time today at a church where you sign as a guest it had single, married, widowed. Quite a shock to me to realize I am not married and no longer say I am married. Dang, can I still say married?

I guess we all agree. Widow/Widower are harsh words. We aren't just put in that simple notch. Single, married, separated. We need to come up with a new word. I only put widowed on legal documents or documents at the doctors office or hospital. They look at you funny if you put down you want your personal information discussed with your sister/mother like I did one time instead of my spouse since clearly they thought I was married still wearing wedding rings.

My wakening of being a widow was when I had to file status on the W2 form. It got easier over time.

I work in a Human Resources Office and have access to employees' records. After my husband passed away, I saw where someone took it upon themselves to change my status to single instead of married. I was so mad - I changed it back and have dared anyone to change it. As far as I am concerned, I will always be married. Roxanne
