What a coincidence... I was just thinking about you then saw this post, and I was just talking with another widow about the same thing; what to do with my rings.
My friend had hers re-fashioned into a beautiful 'memory' ring - both were melted down and the diamonds put into new settings. She wears it on her right ring finger now.
Me - I thought of having the ring made into a pendant, in a sideways figure 8 with the diamonds in the centre - so they still look like rings but different. I've an anniversary ring which needs repair that I'll wear on my right hand. Nothing on my left hand unless I remarry.
If you want, wear them. Either hand is fine. I had one widow tell me she wore hers until she felt ready to move forward and start dating again (she was widowed at 27 due to a car accident).
At some point, if you find you don't want to wear them, then make a choice then what to do for the future.
I'm going to look for replies on this thread to see if anyone has any ideas.
hugs,
Janie
I know this topic has been brought up before. Only now, I realize just how significant these answers are!
Have a good Sunday,
Sandra
As so many others have suggested you are free to wear them or remove them when you decide. There is no right way, it's your way. Sharon
Eventually, I had a family ring made to match the anniversary rings - it has Cliff's birthstone in the middle, our two sons' birthstones, and interspersed are diamonds which are my birthstone. I moved my wedding rings to my right hand and wore the family ring with my anniversary rings on my left hand. I cried when I did that, but it felt right. That was at about 2-3 months after his death.
The 2nd wedding rings I wear on a chain as a pendant as Cliff's hands were so large and mine kind of small, so my ring fits inside of his and just looks like a double-circle pendant. Here is a photo of how they look together:

I am remarried now, so have a new set on my left hand, but I wear the family ring on my right hand now.
There is no right or wrong on this, only what makes you happy. Some never move the rings or remove the rings. Some remove them and save them for children or grandchildren in the future.
Hope this helps......
Love and Hugs,
Martha
