Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
We played co-ed volleyball for great fun , slo-pitch and even bowling.
Travelling usually meant visiting family but we had taken one trip on an Island and were looking forward to take many such trips together since becoming part-time empty nesters...
We met working together, and we wound up working together more than once over the 30 years we were together. People used to ask 'how can you stand being together 24/7?' I never understood that - he was my other half, the person I most wanted to spend my time with, why wouldn't I want to be with him 24/7??
For one glorious year, we both worked from home. Our home office/studio was not that big, so we literally worked back-to-back. I would be working on something and lean back and say, 'honey, look at this - what do you think?' He'd lean back, look at it, and say 'Niiiice!' And vice versa.
We did everything together - work and play. We played music together, we cleaned house together, we hiked together, we loved museums and music and art together. We played with the kids together. Frankly, there wasn't a whole lot that we did separately. I had a separate life because of my work, but it never felt as important as my life with Cliff and our kids. Work was what I did until I get home to Cliff and the boys.
Crazy, isn't it?
Kitchen has never been the same a warm and fun place since my enthusiastic chef is not here any longer.
I keep on some of the things, making his dishes and inviting some of our friends to share memories, and just to honor him, keeping the memories of him alive.
Just writing about this made me miss him so much, but I am glad you invited to share those memories...
