Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Hope tomorrow brings you a better day.
I am going to offer an answer to your question with a question.
Have you considered that God has already answered your prayer? His answer might possibly be that He has a purpose for you that has either been or is yet to be revealed. Sometimes we stay so focused on what we want out of lifeor even demandthat we cannot see the intent (or endeavor to search for it) for which we remain on this earth.
Is moving through our sorrow more grueling than what we could have imagined? Absolutely!!!! A million times more and plus; however, here we are with opportunities to help, to encourage, and to validate that life can be meaningful once again. Staying stuck in our grief exacts a huge toll from us.
In my own journey of over 5 years, I continue to discover fresh aspects of my new normal, am introduced to new friends, deepen my relationships with those friends who stuck by my side, and most importantly demonstrate to our daughters and grandchildren that life throws us some curves but we can march on with a grateful spirit for what we have been given. It's a slow journey, but the end result is worth each painful step. We are not left with desolation, but if we search just a tiny bit we discover consolation.
This has been my experience over the past 5 years. I hope you can discover the strength to look outside of your own sorrow. It is not an easy task by any means, but life has never been easy. All of us can certainly reach back into our past and disclose really, really rough times from which we survived. We made it through the tough years.
Compassion is all around us, but we have to be willing to come out of our cocoon to feel its loving arms; and, we then have an opportunity to offer that same compassion to others.
My best to you as you journey on toward inner peace. TJ

God has answered your prayer. The answer is no.
I still remember that answer, and now more than 10 years later, it has helped me understand my plight. I wanted to go Home and be with God. I wanted to see my husband again, to resume our old life together. But God has a different plan for me. So I'm here. Maybe I'll never know why He answered no, but it is His answer.
Now, I don't ask anymore. Instead I try to be the best I can possible be. And I realize that I have to put my feelings to the side and wait for God's perfect timing. Maybe he plans to use me in some way.
Which brings me back more than 11 years ago, when my mother was dying. She, too, asked to be taken Home. She wanted to see her mother and grandmother. She wanted to see Jesus. So she told me one day that she wanted to go home. And I asked her to please stay here with me a little longer. I told her that the people in Heaven weren't going anywhere, that they would still be there whenever she arrived. She agreed and lived another year. I was grateful for her sacrifise. Now, she and my husband are both waiting for me.
