Two years ago today.

It was 2 years ago today that I heard my love say I love you for the last time. She had breast cancer and was having trouble breathing and went into the hospital to see what was going on. To make a long story short they had to put her on a vent 2 years ago today and they couldn't find out what it was. Turns out either the taxol messed up her lungs or the cancer spread to her lungs. Needless to say you can't live very long without being able to breathe. Donna also had her kidneys fail as well as bleeding out through her stomach. I don't mean to be graphic but it was what it was. We all made the decision to take her off the vent as a family. She lasted 20 minutes after she was taken off. I will never forget her last breaths as long as I live. I saw the love of my life, my soulmate leave before my eyes. I whispered to her it was ok for her to go. Even after almost 2 years it is still as hard to remember this, but I will never forget, nor do I want to.....

We never forget, and the love never dies. It is easy to say 'sorry for your loss' but those of us here truly understand what your loss means, the depth of the pain, and indeed are truly sorry. I hope your good memories will bring you comfort even as the memories of her last hours renew the pain.

Thanks all. Handg you are right. I have been an emotional wreck the past few days. I think it's been worse this year than last. Just got back from church and one of the couples there just had their 69th wedding anniversary. That tore me up too. I guess I need to be thankful that my wife and I had 40 good years together. I wish there could have been another 40 but it wasn't to be.

Hi Jeff!! I know how hard it is when the memories of your loved one passing take over your memories of the good times. My darling Art was in the hospital for 2 months. He had colon cancer 9 years ago and it came back in his liver. We did not know anything until he could not breath due it spreading to his lungs. It is a horrible way to see your loved one go. His last day, we also got to say I love you once last time. When I flash back to that time in Hospice, I try to rerun a good memory to stop me from feeling the pain of losing him. We were blessed with 30 wonderful years and I too wish we had more. I hope you can find some peace and comfort today!! Sue.
