This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Since becoming widowed, it has proven difficult to find a female friend to travel with (financial constraints, etc.). But the good news --
I have discovered Sights & Soul Travel. They have a web site. From the research I have done so far, they appear to be a reputable business. There is a Sights & Soul group on Facebook on ladies who have traveled with S & S in the past. I have conversed with them via email and they speak highly of the company and their travel experiences.
Truhal sent me a link for Adventurous Wench. Have requested information. Their trips focus on hiking, kayaking, etc.
Regarding S & S Travel, I am seriously considering Rome for 2011. My DH and I often spoke of going to Italy. One of my goals is to travel to those destinations we planned to do together.

I've been considering a trip, but, as you mentioned, it's hard to find someone who is able to travel with me. I'm def. going to look into Sights & Soul!
My son has been encouraging me to take a trip I've always dreamed about...no time like the present!

Count me in for traveling. My husband and I traveled as often as we could and I just hate to give it up. So hard to find anyone to travel with. Rome and Tuscany sound great to me. I'd like to do a bus tour of several regions in Italy because I like to paint and I know I would be inspired by the countryside as well. I too have way too much going on this year but hopefully by 2011 things will have settled some. I did take a two week tour to Ireland a couple years ago alone because my husband had no interest in going, but as much as I loved it, it was lonely with no one to share it with. Wouldn't do that again. Keep me posted! KT
I, also, have travel plans and home improvement projects this year, '11 would suit me...:)
I'd be nervous too...let's do it?

With regard to doing a bus tour in Italy I highly recommend what we did. We took our Garmin GPS and rented a car and drove -- we began in Trieste, N.E. corner of Italy, and worked our way down to Rome. The highways are incredible (like ours!), easy and the drivers very respectful. Once you get to Rome, though, turn the car in and don't even consider a taxi -- there they're maniacs! You are going to have a great time! I hope the trip materializes for all of you.
