Some people are pushy and some people are just plain scavengers. I had an estate sale a month after my wife passed and as the movers were still in the house a man came in, pretending to be one of the movers and offered to buy the house from me the next day. I politely threw him out, but since then I have been getting letters in the mail in unmarked envelopes from house hunters offering grand promises to buy my house without a real estate agent, in cash and nothing for me to do but pack my stuff and be on my way. On my way to where?
I hope you're not getting that sort of nonsense. Talk about blood suckers!

People have no filters. I left my job recently and during my exit interview it came up I was having financial difficulty in my current position and the hr rep conducting the interview actually said well maybe you don't need such a large house. Sometimes people who have not walked this journey have no clue and I just shake my head and walk away.
It's my life, my choices yeah you have an opinion but really it doesn't matter to me.

LaaLaa, I am so sorry for your loss. Big hugs to you. Most of the time I don't get angry at anyone saying inappropriate things anymore. I would tell them all the good things about my husband. They would get the idea how good he was. I hope you will take it one moment at a time, get support if you need to and most of all take care of yourself. I know at this stage I didn't care much for myself.

Mysweetie2, my daughter mentioned a similar thing as your grand daughter did. My mother-in-law never liked me till these days simply because she viewed me took her son away from her. My daughter would say to me, if it wasn't her and grandpa there wouldn't be daddy. I thought that's true and I am glad my husband inherited only the good qualities from his parents and none of her vices.

Two weeks after my husband of 36 years passed away my daughter who is 38 said some very shallow heartless things. She self diagnosed me as Bi polar..and if this grief has taught me Anything it is who is really there for you. I have learned though to just pray for them as what else can i do . Not even a year later..there are some naive people out there but there are some really nice people too. Best advise ignore them they know naught what they do or say . My 70 year old sister bought a book on being a widow and is trying to tell me how i should be feeling now..my Aunt told me to tell her to bury the book. Take it Easy and know we are all here ( Hugs)

Yell it LaaLaa I did. One of my longest friends said that exact thing to me. I did yell "I don't want someone else I want her." They mean well but have no idea. If it should happen again do yell it!

Silverfox..I had a mother-in-law just like yours..Dennis and I were married at 19, in the state where I live at the time if a guy was under 21 his mother had to sign for him, but girl only had to be 18..she went with us to get the license and when Dennis went to bathroom, she looked at me and said, this will never last..well his brother and both of his sisters were divorced and remarried twice..We, were married on my 19th birthday and it lasted for 50 years....;-)
