I have many loving friends but my home is so empty when I come back from work.I am very grateful that I have my dog waiting for me.MY son and his wife live in another state and we talk almost every day but it does not help with the lonely feeling.I am so glad that we have each other here.Love and peace.Ann
My husband knew what time I should be home for work, and if I wasn't here shortly after that time, he'd get worried. He hated it when I had to be on snowy roads. If I got sick, he was here. If I had car troubles, I knew he would come to get me. Like you said, our kids will eventually call but no one calls to make sure I'm safe inside each night, home after I go some where. It's that fact that is tough to come to terms with. We are alone.
Hugs,

You hit the nail on the head. The first thing I did after my husband's death, was to have a security system installed on the house. We didn't lock our doors half the time, now I come home and dead bolt the door. I only use the alarm, at night, it helps me feel safe. I miss having someone in the house. I let the dog in, in the evening, but he's a outside dog. I don't think I'll ever get used to this.

Now its just me. I have lights on timers so that I dont come home to a dark house, Im sitting eating leftovers at my computer. Yeah this whole journey sucks

"Ain't it the truth?" I left living with my parents to being married to Joe and living with him. Our children are all adults, married and have busy lives. I talk to them, but, not everyday. (we did the first year to maybe 15 - 18 months).
When Joe was at work ~~ driving a truck~~ he called me 2 or 3 times a day, and especially at night ~~ to make sure I was ok and at home. No one does that now. If I fell ~~ I don't know how long I'd be here w/o anyone missing me!! That is a hard thing to think about.
Today, I finally went to the Dr. ~~ haven't felt good in a couple of weeks ~~ sore throat and cough. It would get better and then come back. I felt really bad today, and the cough was coming from deep in my chest. Well, I have pneumonia....yay! Isn't it grand?? I feel so tired and just not well.
Of course, my dtr (who lives next door)told me to let her know if she needed to do anything.....not really. There is nothing she can do. I am supposed to rest and I rest better w/o anyone here. Just knowing Joe won't be calling or coming home to ck on me is unsettling, to say the least.
I wrote about this day in my journal already. Sometimes being alone is fine; and sometimes it plain....SUCKS!
Flying w/o a net is definitely NOT fun.
