Still alone and scared

It will be four years in March since my husband of 32 years had no choice but to leave me due to pancreatic cancer. I had no hope from the day he was diagnosed. I knew this was a death sentence but he still lived with treatment for 18 months. The family dynamics and the finances are killing me still. I need to make huge decisions next year. I need to sell the family home and downsize. Leave the home we built together and raised our children in. My life is hell without Michael.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what that hell was like during treatment, knowing the odds of a good outcome weren't high. My 49 year-old husband passed 29 days ago from pancreatic cancer. We knew he was sick for only 20 days and didn't even get to start chemo. I believe he decided he didn't want to get on the "hope rollercoaster" of treatment, and chose a quick exit. I'm still in shock and am sure I will be for awhile.

I'm so sad to hear you'll have to leave the home you built together and raised your family in. It's like another death to mourn. My heart goes out to you and your family. I wish you peace and continued healing.

My husband has just died of pancreatic cancer as well. He learned he had cancer in January. He had chemo and radiation, but his condition nonetheless deteriorated badly and in the end, he died very rapidly. A friend of ours had two close relatives die from this horrible disease, too. I am working to re-establish purpose in life. It is very hard to be without my soulmate.

It will be eight years for me in March, almost unbelievable. I can't believe that this much time has passed since John's passing. A day doesn't go by without thinking about him and my three siblings and their spouses whom I have also lost - it has been difficult to heal from so much loss. I continue to try and find some purpose for my being here. Holidays are always hard; however, for my two childrens' sake and my four grandchildren, I put on a "happy" face. Roxanne

    Today I feel grateful. Grateful for my dog Blue (Blue Jean Baby Queen, Prettiest girl I've ever seen). Grateful I'm still kickin'. Grateful I'm finally taking responsibility for my health. Grateful I own my home. Grateful for good friends and neighbors who watch over me. Grateful to God for His everlasting love and patience with me. Grateful I survived the 10 years since my wife of 30 years...
