I just wondered what you all were doing for the holidays. And how we are going to manage.
We always celebrated Christmas Eve. Had a simple soup supper and then opened gifts and had cookies and hot chocolate and watched a Christmas movie. Plans this year are, we are doing our traditional Christmas Eve at my house. It isn't going to be easy but with little grandsons and lots of little hugs and cuddles I think it will be ok. After everyone leaves that night. . . well, that will be a different story.
New Years Eve is going to be the toughie. We always went out of town and met up with 4 other couples. We were/are dear friends and we would spend the complete weekend together. Sometimes at one of our homes, other times we would meet at a fun location. New Years was our holiday. I am dreading that week end so much. I wish I could go to sleep December 30th and not wake up till January 2nd.
Would you please share what holiday traditions you and your loved one shared? And what you're doing this year? Maybe if we all talk to each other about our past and present traditions, joys, sorrows and fears we can gather strength and courage from each others. Hugs and wishes for love and peace for you all. ~Bailey ~

Today (August 8) is INternational Cat Day. Don't click away! International DOG day is August 26! Both were created to raise aweareness and funds for the well-being of critters. We have many such dayts, to the pint that every day is like an old Catholic saints' day calendar: Take your pick!I'm home, obvs, and still ill. Left calf and foot not great after a tangle-fall, but i'll live. Just can't...

I'nm exhausted. This doxycycline thing has ripped me apart and I'm eating crackers and water. I can't take (anything) or eat (anything) except saltines and toast and maybe unbuttered watery mashed potatoes. Are we sure the cure isn't worse than the possible disease?!?!And a week to go. ***Fun cures that WERE worse than the disease:ARsenic. Popular against STDs, which just compounded misery...

My husband, Don, and I used to spend New Year's Eve at house parties. That ended when he passed. Art and I will be home watching the ball drop, having a drink and enjoy being together.
Much has changed in the years since Don passed. Out of necessity. I have changed too. The first years were hard, very hard. Now I find happiness in my new, different life. Sharon
Wednesday, I will distribute my presents to my co-workers at the office. I have made them little tins of cookies and brownies and bought some little goodies for those that are close friends.
New Years has turned into a special day for Pat and I. It is the day three years ago that we admitted that we were in love with each other. It will always hold magic for us. We are going out to a romantic dinner and then a New Years party at a local hangout and dance the night away. All in all a good couple weeks of celebration.
It took me years to build a new norm, and holidays are always bittersweet, but there it is for you, busy, and full of people I love. I hope everyone has a peaceful and calm holiday season.
Hugs,
Val
Have a wonderful holiday everyone,
Love,
