I still have no heat... My husband could call someone and they would come light it. Everyone I have called no one has shown up at all. My oldest tried, and his car blew up. The rest, are busy.....gee let your mom freeze.

THis cold is ridiculous! I am in Minneapolis and our high today is 14 degrees below zero! I am so glad I bought a newer vehicle that has a remote start as my Stevan was my car starter in the mornings. He would always start my car when he got up even if it wasn't that cold, I only have to drive 2 minute to work but he took care of me. I am glad that you have someone who is helping you , my neighbor keeps my front sidewalk clear we just have to take care of the driveway. Hoping
your electrity stays on also, to be so cold and lose that would be awful. Stay warm and hope your day is a little better than yesterday

I'm so sorry. And here I was feeling sorry for myself because I wanted someone to build a snowman with or take a walk in the snow. I'm so sorry you have the extra burden of taking care of animals. I have been reading everything I can to be sure I keep pipes from bursting, etc., during this storm. I do miss having my husband here...it was a comfort knowing he would know the right thing to do should something go wrong. Prayers coming your way!

So, my oldest called, his radiator is what blew up on his car. he got a new one, is replacing it, and then will be over to light t.. bless his heart, I don't know what I would do without him....

somehow we are making it, think our men watching over us. No heat, then pipes freeze, really frightening

I am in the frozen tundra too. Wish Chris were here to be snowed in with. So far I am blessed to still have power.

Here in Southwestern Ontario we have had snowstorm on top of snow storms. Today the temp is -11 and tomorrow it will be -20 (-35 - -40).
We are still expecting more snow squalls, strong wind gusts and we have deep wind chill warnings.
My son helped me shovel a little. He did not really want to, but he needed to get his youngest child to his mother. My son does not drive. The buses were behind schedule. So to get the boy home I offered to drive him if my son shoveled. he shoveled for about 10 minutes. I did the rest. My son does do a lot. That is why my grandchildren live me and their mothers.
I was to go out of town for my work today. But I decided to work from home.
My oldest grandson loves this weather. His school was closed. He went to a friends and now he is sleeping. To be 15 again.

I meant to say my son does not do a lot.

I spent $350 to get my pipes replaced and wrapped 3 weeks go. So, now they are frozen again.....because of no heat. TV, radio everywhere says to keep a check on your senior citizens. So they have heat.....

I am so sorry for what you are going through with this cold weather. I also have learned to see how much I have to be thankful for. Yes, it's cold and wet and windy here, but it's like the man with no shoes. He felt so cold until he meet the man with no legs. I always gain a perspective here, that's why I stay. Sharon

Even though this is crummy weather I feel It's good to have some animals to look after. They not only give us company but they also give us responsibility as they are dependent on us to look after them. At this point in our lives when we maybe feel we don't care much about ourselves they give us purpose, obligation and motivation.
As to the problems of other chores, being a man I can take care of them myself but of course for you Angels will certainly help and it sounds like you've got them.

Sandeestttn...are you trying to light the pilot light on your furnace? There should be a door that opens and should be a label that shows where it is. If you locate it, use one of those lighter things used to light a bbq. I do it all the time. Not hard.

I felt so bad last night because I yelled at my husband- who of course is not here. I yelled at him because I am so overwhelmed with everything this winter- and he is not here to help me. I am trying to take care of the house- and our business. Lost power at both for nearly a week in an ice storm. Now a major snow storm along with the dangerous wind chills. Just- tired. But I felt guilty and hoped he could not actually hear me yell at him.

After my oldest son replaced his radiator on his car, out in the collllddd. He ran over here, had to take the heater thing apart, and readjust the thingy on it, got it so I can light it now if it goes out again. And bless his heart... have heat. he also fixed the 2nd heater so I won't freeze in the bedrooms. (my husband broke it the night he went to hospital)...I don't know what I would ever do without him.
