This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Sending out a reminder about the Ohio Autumn Gathering, aka the Ohio Hoedown, in case you would like to join us. I think there are a few rooms that remain in the block of rooms designated for our group. Don't forget to make your reservations if you are planning on staying overnight (motel information below).

If I have left anyone out, please let me know. I will make the correction. Also, six (as of this date) of the definites are arriving on Friday night. I plan on meeting them for dinner and an evening of chit chat and enjoyment; the 'wingding' will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Let me know if you will be arriving early. It would help in making arrangements for the evening.
I sure hope those of you who have not been able to attend one of the earlier Gatherings will consider joining us. It will be a day to connect and put a face with a nameat last!!! As I've mentioned before, the other Gatherings have been uplifting and full of just plain fun. I think it surprised all of us how quickly we bonded. Conversations ranged from lighthearted and fun-loving to camaraderie between determined survivors. What a special group of people the DSers arekindhearted, supportive, and compassionate.
OHIO GATHERING
WHEN:
November 12-14. The main day being Saturday, November 13, 11:30 a.m.
WHERE:
The Gathering will be held at my house (address to be given by private message), hoping that all of you can stay for a bonfire in the evening. Remember those S'mores!!!! If the weather is too nippy, there's always the roaring fire in the fireplace where S'mores can be made.
LODGING:
Hampton Inn, 11484 Allen Road, Jeffersonville, OH 43128 (1-71 Exit 65 @ Route 35) (740-948-9499), $80.10, not including tax. This includes a hot Continental Breakfast.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
To receive the special price, there is a Code to mention when making your reservations. Please contact me by private message, and I will be glad to give you that Code. If we are not yet friends, please make a friend request so that I can give you additional information privately.

I remember the last time I was around a camp fire in Ohio - I was in college and it was sooooo cold that I stood at one point with my back to the fire to get my back warm -- then my jeans caught on fire. Quite exciting. I continued wearing those jeans with the bottom burned off about 8 inches - kind of like a badge I guess. Don't let me get tooo close this time.
I can tell that I'm gonna have to keep an eagle eye on you so you don't let your backside get too close to the flames. Remember, it'll be for hot dogs and marshmallows. TJ
Lori - no fair getting a head start on the smores......you will have the technique mastered by the time we get to OH.
Songs around the campfire - hmmm.....obviously none of you have ever heard me sing.....that will be quite interesting.

As for the somores ....or however you spell it..........if I don't stop soon I will have a shelf on my butt ............then again, that will give me a place to put things............now when I go shopping and see something I think would be cool I just say............but where would I put it...........and soon my butt will be able to answer..........right here ........thi8s is getting way too silly..............even for me....lol

Veggies sound great. Joely is bringing Ginger Ale and a jar of queso cheese for the nachos I already have. Dave (oatsguy) is bringing the marshmallows. I've got the main meals for Friday and Saturday covered, and of course the hot dogs for our evening roast are in the freezer waiting to be 'flamed,' and the Hershey bars are OK for now; but if the weekend doesn't get here soon, I'll have them devoured (with no trace left) by the time y'all (Joely, how am I doing with my southern 'drawl'?) get here!!!
