All of us here know the pain that you are feeling. This site is so helpful, and I am glad that you found it. We all understand and are here for you when needed. I am at a nearly five-year mark and can tell you that you will survive your loss. Life will be different for you, but the gut-wrenching sadness that you feel now will eventually pass. After John's passing, I found a grief support group at a local hospital that met weekly. It was a tremendous help for the first and second year. You may want to go this route as well. Take good care of yourself.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am at 23 months. We would have been together 50 years now. I was so alone during my grief, I was on this site all the time. Everyone here understood and helped me ever so much. I am so grateful. I still come here a few times a day. but rarely post anymore. I am still working on healing. I'm very sorry for your loss. I was married to my wife for 48 years when she passed away in January, 2014, after a long illness. She too was my best friend and yoke mate.

I wish I had some words of wisdom about how life will go on, and things will be bearable, but I suspect all of us here are working this out and making it up as we go along. Stick around and you'll see a lot about how other people are struggling and managing, and you may find some comfort and insight from that.

I am so sorry for your loss.....I too lost my half to cancer...there are so many wise and caring people here...may you find some sort of comfort even if its only the fact that we know how your heart hurts...sending a hug

You are with the most fantastic group of people. Please come as often as you feel like it. I would be on all night because I couldn't sleep. It was so wonderful to share my feelings and have people understand and share.17 months ago I never thought I would be where I am today and I am so grateful. Praying that you will be comforted and that you will have peace.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My husband died of cancer in July 2014. It's the worst pain I've ever felt and the fact that the one person you'd normally rely on in difficult times is gone is the final irony. From one who has walked in your shoes it will get easier. I don't say better as I think we just learn to live with the pain. It becomes part of who we are. I'm glad you've found us to help you on this journey. One day at a time is the only way. I've been helped by one on one sessions with a counselor from the hospice that helped care for my husband. Thinking of you, Liz.
