I miss his smile as he asked, 'do you want a cup of coffee?' Followed by, 'can you get me a cup too?'
We would sit on the deck or at the table and just talk. Never knew how important those moments would become in time. Sharon

I miss him wearing his fedora and asking me if it looked ok. I miss him asking me where I wanted to go for date night. I miss him asking if he could go to the grocery store with me. I miss talking to him over coffee too.

I miss my weekend breakfast in bed. I miss holding his hand. I miss him telling me "don't worry, I'll take care of it" when I was in a flap.

I miss our conversations at the dinning table and his dry sense of humour. But above all I miss him telling me he loved me.

Basically, I miss him.

So many moments, so many little things which mean the world to me.

On my days off work, listening for the car to do that locking beep sound, both myself and our dog always loved that sound, both getting excited, knowing my wife would be walking through the door any second.

Listening to the theme music of Coronation Street, which my wife always loved to watch. I heard that at work the other day, someone was watching it on TV.

When both off work, I always looked forward to the possibility of getting a Tim's coffee (Tim Horton's), always something to look forward to. Didn't matter if we got one or not, just the fact it was something of a tradition. When in Canada you have to have a Tim's coffee, the same thing as when in England you have to drink tea, but homemade tea is the best.

So many good memories about these small things we always took for granted. They are good memories.

I miss having him cook dinner and make the trip to pick kids up at school. I miss him being the great dad he was to our kids.

I miss him asking "'so, how was your day?" every time I walked in the door after work. I miss the way he loved to tease me and then his laugh when I would finally catch on. I miss how we could talk for hours and never run out of things to say. -Deb

Each morning, love was a cup of coffee made just right. I take meds for pain and anxiety,. Mornings are hard for me to get up and walk.until the meds kick in. So my first few cups were delivered to me every day.
Even when he got sick he still got up and made the coffee.

I miss having my coffee made every morning especially when it was warm enough to sit on the porch. I so miss him picking me up from work on Wednesday and going to watch the sun set on the river. We would have a glass of wine and toast hump day. There are so many, many hinges I miss.

I miss her. I miss going after work and weekends to our favorite Starbucks. I just miss being with her. We went everywhere together for 40 years.

He was a wonderful cook and was thoughtful in little ways that I really took for granted. He loved making me different dishes to try and cocktails when we relaxed on our deck. I miss having someone to come home to, so sad coming home to an empty house. I miss my companion of 30 years...

My husband had beautiful hands, I just remember always loving them when he would hug me or just hold my hand. We also road the big Nomad bike touring and he would pat my leg on the left about 20 minutes into the trip just to say, I love you, glad you are here with me, we are good partners. Breaks me up anymore when I see two on a touring bike these days (and with summer than means MANY). He so loved his motorcycles. And, of course, I loved his smell and his wonderful smile.

Coffee seems to be filled with meaning for a lot of grieving spouses....including me. My husband loved cofffee, and I used to order him Hawaiin coffee as a surprise gift. He always made the morning coffee and brought it to me before we left for work. He used coffee beans and a French press, and I haven't mastered either. In fact, I haven't made coffee since he died in March. These coffee-less mornings break my heart as do so many other things. It's just so hard in all respects!

I can agree that it's difficult to do some things now. My wife and I used to watch quite a few tv shows together. She she died six weeks ago I've not had the tv even on ( and we have five tvs in the house ). Other things are ok, but TV is not something I am looking forward to doing without her.

I miss the calm - everything will be okay - sense that came with Bill walking into the room.

And lots more.

I am homesick for us.
