I had it down pat. I figured that the reason we widows/widowers had memory problems was that we simply didn't pay attention to what we're doing. I figured if I really concentrated on all task, then everything will be okay.
I'm proud to say that after two weeks of doing this, I proved my theory. It's concentration, not memory that affects us. I know because I decided to break my diet tonight with a pizza.
So there's just me and a big pizza meant to serve 6. It's midnight. Weight Watchers wouldn't approve. What a wonderful night! I was gonna be bad to the bone and eat every morsel of it. With a smile on my face, I placed the pizza in the oven. My dog salivated as I did this, but I told her it's all mine.
I retired to the bedroom to clean up a bit. I was full of energy just thinking of that pizza out there cooking, cheese bubbling. Emmm, Emmm, what a meal. Imagine my surprise when I went to get my guilty pleasure and found the entire oven smoking like it was on fire. I didn't know what to do. I ran around a bit, panic overtaking me, trying to figure out where the fire extinguisher was. What to do? What to do? What would DH do? I didn't see any fire, just smoke, so I figured he would unplug it. I did that and and opened the oven, closing it quickly when thick smoke poured out. I opened all the windows, turned on the vent in the kitchen, all the while thaking God there was no fire. Finally, the smoke stopped and I stared at the offending oven. What could be wrong with it? I thought, thinking how DH would have probably noticed there was something wrong with the oven before cooking in it. But he's gone and I'm here and I've got to figure it out. So I did.
I put on my Sherlock Holmes hat and opened the darn thing. I didn't have to do too much investigating to figure out the horrible truth: I'd placed the pizza in the oven up-side-down.
What a mess. Goodnight.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Perhaps the diet fairies were watching out for you!
Thanks for the absolute proof that all we need to do is concentrate and we'll be fine! Hope your oven is self-cleaning so that all you got was a little scare and a big laugh.
Hugs, Gail
What a hoot! Too funny. Thanks for a good belly laugh, but now I'm hungry for pizza. TJ

Sorry about your pizza (and your oven!) but glad it wasn't anything worse than that.

I was married to someone else before DH. One day, we decided to buy a frozen pizza. My ex-husband volunteered to do the honors and prepare the thing. After about 20 minutes, I noticed a strange smell in the house. I thought, if that's the pizza, I'm not having any. I can't quite describe it, but it was the worst smell I've ever smelled. Nothing like the mouthwatering aroma I'd expected.
I told my ex: I'm not eating it. There's something wrong with it. He said, smells good to me and sat back and continued watching television. And I thought, maybe I married the wrong guy.
Well, we let it cook another five minutes and I told him I'd do the honors and get it out of the oven for him. I'd already decided on a turkey sandwich for myself.
So, I go over to the oven, open it, and there nestled in the center of the oven was the pizza, all swrivled up on the cardboard box. The thing actually resembled a bowl what with the cardboard cooking to a great extent. Turns out his mother always prepared pizzas and put them back on the cardboard. He figured she cooked it that way, so he did too.

I don't do frozen pizza, so at least there's one trick I won't preform. I did however make some pancakes from a baking mix to which you have to add eggs, oil, sugar and milk. They were the worst pancakes I had ever seen in my life and tasted even more awful. Then, I noticed I had used plain flour instead of the baking mix. Just what you said - not concentrating. The packages are totally different, so how on earth did I mix them up?
