My husband always signed his cards to me with the phrase forever and always, so I took in a card and had them tattoo it on the inside of my wrist...it is his handwriting...I absolutely love it and every time I look at it I know he is with me...It was a decision that I will never regret..I have no other tattoo's but this one will forever mean everything to me...

I did one, it is wings with my husband Harley davidson's engine with his favorite quote "Never ride faster than your angel can fly"
There is a picture of it on my photos page. I do not and I don't think I will ever regret it. It was designed and tatted by a friend of the family.

My husband had one tattoo... and he was going to get one with a rose for me, and then a taurus the bull for his zodiac sign. He had one tat.. but was going to put the bull in the place of it. I'm just going to come out and say, I'm definetely not brave enough to do it, let alone try to find someone who could handle my screams of pain, lol. much love and big hugs carla

A few weeks ago I decided to pretty much buzz my long hair off, I guess as sort of a outward sign of grieving. I do have some mixed feelings, however I know it will grow back. Seeing your post has made me think of getting a tatoo, but I want to be absolutely sure that it will be one I won't regret. Rosie's idea of using his handwriting sounds very cool, but unfortunately my husband's handwriting is not very legible! Maybe, I would do just his name Dan, since it's a short name. The pain I could take.

My wife had a large Harley Davidson tattoo on her back. It had the shield with roses twined around it. About a month after she passed I took a picture of it back to the artist that did the original tattoo and she remembered doing it for my wife. She recreated it on my left arm and added a pink ribbon for my wife's breast cancer and also added something my wife wrote to me on the back of her Nursing graduation picture. It read "Love, Donna" in her handwriting. The artist copied it perfectly. Like others here it makes me feel closer to her.

I took a copy of my husband's final ecg, and a greeting card he had given me... he always signed his initials, never his name... to the tattoo parlor. I had his final heartbeat placed on the inside of my wrist. Right below the flatline, I had his initialed signature. I absolutely love it! Whenever I'm having a "moment", I find myself rubbing it... It gives me a sense of peace.

I got one for her, a heart with a lightning bolt through it with her name and a banner below it with live, love, laugh. My only tattoo.

I have a half sleeve that covers my upper right arm and shoulder. I had her name subtlety tattooed in smoke on the inside of my bicep on that same tattoo. She will always be close to me.~Pete

Thank you for all the responses up to this point. They are giving me great ideas. I have a rough idea of what I want and I have a session scheduled. I love the handwriting idea. I have limited handwriting from my husband but I do have a card he sent along with some flowers in feb of 2014. It simply says "love you" I am going to take that with me for sure. I have decided on an infinity heart. I would love to find a copy of an EKG that he had. I have a broken chain (from the poem) and an angel wing to incorporate into that. Keep the posts coming.

I also have a tattoo. I already had a heart on my left shoulder, so I had an anchor added and my husbands initials. He was a Navy Chief, and I always told him he anchored my life....so the anchor is precious to me.

I know my family and friends will think I have lost it, but I have considered a tattoo. At first, I thought I would get one where no one else could see it, but I really would like it on my wrist or hand. I am not sure what it will be but love the idea of his handwriting. Do you think I am too old at age 65 1/2 to consider getting a tattoo?

My step daughter got a tattoo memorializing my husband. It was a mash up of things he loved most (The Rolling Stones, wolves and eagles.) Personally, I wouldn't because it's not my thing, but if you like it, go for it. All I can say is make it something with meaning for both of you.

Our daughter got a tattoo on her calf of a waterfall and a fish raising from the water. It symbolizes the place he fished for many years.

@Roz. A tattoo is appropriate for any age, so if you want one go for it. My first tat was on the back of my left shoulder (a hummingbird ). It's discreet and was done at a motorcycle rally. The memories it brings are more precious now than ever. Sharon
