Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

Truthfully I think it was almost a year before I cleaned out her closet and her dresser. I'm not saying this to make you feel bad (there's never a good time). I'm telling you to take the time that YOU need. Do what works for you. For me I did almost nothing (opened closet, stared at closet, closed closet). Then I finally hit the point where I had to do it all in one or two days.
Before I ramble some more (sorry), just take the time you need. It's incredibly personal (some quick, a lot not so much). If this place helps you (I hope it does - it really helped me) please, please come back. Ask. Vent. Say whatever you want. Ask whatever you want. We are here. We are connected.
Wishing you peace and love as much as you can grasp and as much as you need.

Everyone here shares a common thread of the loss of their beloved and can relate to what your feeling...Read their stories and see how far some have come from their beginning stages of grief.
Come to vent or reach out when you need someone and you will find some comfort to help you make it through a day at a time. There is nothing harder than losing the love of your life but be kind to yourself and let yourself cry, scream, get angry and grieve and just let it all out. You will find the strength you need to make it through one baby step at a time in your own time.....I hope you find peace and comfort tonight in knowing others care and relate to what your feeling......Stay safe and take care
I lost my wife unexpectantly last August of 2015. I left for work that morning and returned around five hours later and she had gone. She went in her sleep. No warning no indication at all. It has been a year and I will tell you that it will get better after time. It is hell to begin with but over time the intense pain will dull and you will learn to live with what's happened. It isn't something to get over but you learn how to live with it. You can't think about the next day at this point. Don't even attempt to look into the future, at this point it's empty this early on. Just take it a day at a time. I remember that black hole and just how deep it can get. It's important not to let yourself sink into it. Just reach out to others who've been there. It truly helps in the beginning to interact with those who have been where you are. It lets you know your not alone with this pain. But also don't let anyone else tell you to move on or you need to get over it by a certain time. We all move forward at our own pace as an individual. But I promise it will get better if you hang in there. Just do what you need for you. Take care of yourself right now and that's enough to worry about.
Peace, Tim
Take care and be easy on yourself, tomorrow works for what can't be done today. I try to do something bit by bit, but still leave much as it was. Different for all, but we all hurt more than bystanders can realize.
Best wishes to you, let it out when you need to and give something you enjoy or enjoyed together a chance whenever possible, hard as it seems. Even an hour of forgetfulness can be a blessing at times, hope you find more of them in the future.
hugs,
laurie
