I have had mixed responses. My grown step children and husband's ex-wife have called to ask me how I and the children are doing but always manage to ask what the status of the estate and about when and how much, etc. I've only been widowed for 2 months today and my stepson called but didn't mention the anniversary, which really hurt. It was bad enough that I had to go to Probate Court on my son's first day of kindergarten. My stepson also asked for his share of our vacation rental refund on the day of his father's funeral. My husband would want me to remain close to his sons but I don't think I can handle that right now. My husband and I were married for 13 years and have two children. Am I overreacting?
I do, however, feel really close to my sister-in-law. She and her husband will always be part of my family and they are my son's god-parents.

Reading all these comments is just horrible. I can't believe how nasty people are. It's just so damn frustrating and hard to comprehend why!!! We all gotta meet our maker and isn't this just lovely to have on our accomplishments: made my daughter/son in law feel like crap while they were greiving and needed kindness. I pray that we can all treat each other civil. Life is too short don't spend it being hateful.
