I did my first lesson!

Well Ive been studying hard to gain my teaching assistant qualification, and working voluntarily at the local school. They let me give the children a small lesson today, just a small group, and I got such a buzz out of it. Although I stll feel guilty for not going back to the career that Ric and I always did together, I really am looking forward to getting a TA job, and Im sure Ric would be immensely proud of how Ive tried to pick up the shattered pieces of my life, to continue forward to provide a quality life for our son.

Congratulations. Teaching is a challenge and a blessing. I spent 33 yrs. as teacher and principal. There is much so gratification when the child has a "eureka" moment, " I got it, that's awesome". Keep at it, you will find much enjoyment, especially since you seem to be a caring, sensitive person. Gene

Congratulations Nicola. This is a big step. Sometimes taking on different things is the best thing in moving through grief. Ric would be very proud of you, and you should be proud also. I know it wasn't an easy decision but one that you made and carried through.

Nicola, that is so wonderful. I went back to college when I was 45 for early childhood education..it was the one of my best decision. The children are good and kind. What age do you want to teach?

Thank you for all your support, Ive now got to deliver two lessons next week, and been given my homework for the weekend!!In answer to your question Kellyfrancine, primary school age, ideally 5 and 6 year old, definately no older than 10.
I just wish Ric could come back, so I could tell him all about it xx

Great job, it's hard to make those steps forward and you should be proud of doing that. I think you will feel great affirmation from being with the kids and helping them learn and grow. Teaching others is rewarding---doing good for society kind of thing, that we all need in our lives.
