I really believe in the power of pets to heal. Dogs are great. Enjoy your new pet!
Obviously, I am more of a cat person, but I agree - pets can be so helpful and comforting. We had a Maine Coon cat when Cliff died - it's a very large breed - he weighed in at 15 pounds - big kitty! He always seemed to know when I needed the extra comfort, and would climb up in my lap - he was quite a big lapful, too! He'd demand his ear rubs and such and having him purring on me often would put me to sleep, which in the first year was often the only decent sleep I would get. He's gone now, had to be put down on me and Cliff's wedding anniversary - so weird it was that day - kind of like a last present for Cliff. I think they are together now, keeping each other company.
Congrats on the new fur baby!
Love and Hugs,

My Bernese is getting up there in age and I am so scared he will leave me soon but I hope not. ~Pete
Such a great choice when you rescue a dog. My little dog has been a blessing.
I love the name "Lucy!" My first English Lab was named "Brenda" and my Lab/Golden cross, weighing in at 95# is named "Horton!" He is saving my life as I write this. He knows when I'm sad and laughs with me when I'm happy. He lays at my feet, lays his head on my lap and gives me his full attention, just when I need it the most.
Brenda was 14 years old and passed 10 months after Morey passed. I knew if anything happened to him that she wouldn't want to live without him. He adored her and she worshipped him!
Horton takes care of me. I feed him and he feeds my soul! He lifts my spirits and allows me to face each new day and not be afraid. I am forever grateful to him.
Have fun with you new fur baby, you did such a good thing for both of you!
Roz
